General Plumbing Question: Please Help!!
Summer is unfortunately on its way to Phoenix and I'm hoping you guys can offer some suggestions for me. I bought a home from a tract home developer that was built in 2004. In the summer my home NEVER HAS COLD WATER. NONE!! I do not have a swimming pool unfortunately so it makes it miserable in the summer because I have NO way to cool down. I have no plumbing knowledge but I'm assuming the water line coming from the street to my home wasn't dug deep enough thus leading to high temperature water coming in from the outside. Correct?? Anyone have any suggestions or fixes here? Last summer I turned the hot water completely off on the hot water tank from June through September but that didn't accomplish anything temperature wise. Is my only option going to be hire someone (or do it myself) to dig it up and dig deeper from the street to the house?? Thanks in advance for anyone interested in offering some suggestions.

Im assuming it is all sand around your area? I know here that the frost line is something like 30 inches, that means that below that the temperature is a constant cool temperature.
It may not be your line only, it could be the whole streets line. Do your neighbors have the same problem? |

It would probably be cheaper to get a water dispenser than to re plum and run the lines deep enough if that would even help. That all depends on the water main. Or you could try one of these if you don't wanna deal with the bottles. I've never used one though so you might wanna look for some reviews.

YOu have to look at a water chiller or the opposite of a heat exchanger we have them in south fl to cool our pools.....google pool heaters...and you will see a section on water cooling...not sure how to plumb the house...or move !` lol

You are probably on a slab and they ran it just deep enough to get some dirt on it. Actually water service in zones like AZ should as down as deep as here in N. E. They may have a minimum depth it needs to be. Check with your local building inspector or water department.

They will get a shower a day, video surveillance in case of any problems, three hot well balanced tailor made meals a day respecting their religious beliefs and nutritional needs, access to a library, computers, TVs, gym. Put criminals in nursing homes. They will have cold meals, lights off at 7pm, one bath a week, live in a smaller room AND will be forced to pay $4,000- $8,000 a month! It's pretty damn sad that we treat prisoners better than the elderly. |

Lol, you guys cool your pools. Everyone up here tries to heat them. Otherwise they are only useful for 4 months a year.

Yeah the neighbors have the same problem. The ground is not all sand however. Our lot is on a slab as mentioned before. Anyone with any more knowledge or opinions on these water chillers? I really need the cold water for my shower only.

I don't have any ideas, but I will say when we were living in Phoenix during the summer is was weird as **** to have hot water from the cold tap. We were living in brand new apts. From what management says, it's just an Arizona thing. Good luck.
It also sucked when the pools got to hot to swim in, felt more like I was bathing than swimming. |
