funny video review on lexus' new "park itself" feature

yea, this is exactly how i would be trying to use the thing, and my friends would be in the passenger seats laughing their asses off making fun of me while im trying to get this damn thing to work to impress them, all the while, making myself look like an idiot for spending and extra 3 grand on this feature, or how ever much it is

Proof of what too much technology in a car can do to the driving experience.

Auto park is the dumbest thing ever put into a car....leave it to Toyota/Lexus to take every bit of excitement out of a car and make it a mind numbing experience....

I hate Toyota and everything they have done.

I hate Toyota also, I had a 1998 TRD Tacoma that was in all honesty, crap. Finally someone who agrees with me.

While I think the auto-park feature is a huge waste, I don't think those guys in the video put themselves in a good starting position at all. Clearly they didn't know how to operate the system, and five minutes with the manual probably would have helped. The technology is still only as good as the idiot behind the wheel.

Apparently BMW already had this feature. I found a video of it,
http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/bmw_auto_park_makes_parallel_parking_easier.php

The guys in the first video were playing it off pretty bad. Some of those other youtube vids are better for showing the feature. I agree that it is not necessary, but with further development it might be useful. I have never had to parrallel park my jeep since I can just pull into the space every time because its so short .

Have you seen the thing they installed on the FJ Cruiser?

Rocklights, and cameras. They let you pick a line before you go forward and the computer will assist in angles, shock dampening, clearance... the works.

Then, just give it gas and the FJ will crawl on through whatever you want.

If you're too dumb/scared/untalented/lame to park your car, you sure as hell can not figure out the GUI on that computer!
