Funny thing happened the other day...

I had to run to the grocery store yesterday to pick up some cooking supplies for my mom (the lady makes the best home cooked meals, so when she needs something I'm always down for picking her up supplies). Anyways as I'm sitting in the Jeep trying to find her list, a mother and her young son walk past. As the little kid approaches the Jeep his mouth opens up and says "woooow". After they walk past he turns to his mom and goes "mommy why is his truck so dirty?" I never got to hear her answer but needless to say I had a good chuckle and after a crappy day at work and school it brightened things up a bit.

anyone else have experiences like this?

I know my cousin has a little girl (making her daughter my 2nd cousin?) and loves to go for rides. When ever I go over to visit her and her fiance the little dirt ball always runs up to the Jeep before I can get out and asks if she can go for a big girl ride around the block. Its so funny, last week she told me she wants her powerwheel Jeep to be big just like mine.

one of my buddies has a pretty large xj on 33" baja claws, and a father and son (about 6 or so) were walking by, and the kid exclaims "dad, its like a MONSTER truck!"

Psh...

I get those little kids woo-ing (sp?) over my Jeep as well. Most popular line is, "Hey look! It's the Yella Monster Truck!" Followed by lots of pointing and staring. Yeah..I've gotten used to it...

Good story!

My 3 year old nephew loves trucks, big time. He keeps telling me that he wants to go for a ride in my TJ (but they live five states away). His five year old sister calls it beautiful, like it's dreamy.

Yeah, my wife has let little kids sit in Lola when they ogle her, has gotten a compliment from John Leguizamo (long story...apparently he used to own a house near where we lived...) and my personal favourite was last summer as I was driving doorless, a mother in a minivan stopped beside me at an intersection, her kids were all going crazy because I didn't have doors and she rolls her window down (morning yet...) and she says to me... "Your door's gone!" "Yes, I said, the other one is gone too..."

i was coming out out my workplace at the time, which was meijers, like wal-mart, for those of you in the western half of the country, and my jeep was all covered in mud and no doors or top...it was right there, the first vehicle in the line, and a lady and her young son come out, right in front of me, and the son was like, "oooo, look at the jeep", and the mom, im sure not aware that was my jeep goes, "oh yea, that looks like that would be a LOT of fun"

i didnt say anything, just got in it and started it up and drove off with a smile on my face...that was when i had my 95 YJ

You already have an '06 Rubi??? Why?? Why not get an '05? I'm always wondering why people throw money away on a brand new vehicle..(no offense of course.)

why not get an 06??..lol...its cool, no offence taken...i wanted to get an 05, brand new still tho, at the end of the year, but bc of all the rebates and things, i couldnt find an 05, and i found a dealer, i think in late august, early sept, forget exactly when i got it, lol, but they had a 06 with 5 miles on it, just got it in the day i looked at it, and i was the only person to drive it...fell in love with the thing, so a week later, i called them up to make sure they still had it, took my 98, modded ZJ and 98 lexus GS400 down to the dealer and traded both in on it

plus, i got a brand new one, so i could know exactly where its been, whats been done to it, and all that.....i know i performed the 1st ever oil change on it, not someone that owned it 2 owners ago, i didnt have to worry about some one lying to me saying its never been in a wreck, yada yada

EDIT: also, dont discriminate...lol..im not the only person on here with an 06...i may have been the first on here to get an 06 rubi, that i know of anyways, i know i was on the rubicon owners forum, least thats what they told me

Lol, alright.

I guess at 18, I don't understand the ability of buying a new car, and having it depreciate so much right off the bat. I bought my '86 CJ stock, used, and not running. Now the price of it, plus the parts and stuff I threw into it, I have way less than 5K spent on it.

But if I were able to buy an '06 vette or something....lol...

The same thing happen to me often. I have a TJ with five inches of lift and 35s. I was sitting in the TJ one day getting ready to study when this dad and his son walks up behind the jeep and starts talking how big the tire is on the rear tire carrier. They stayed there for a little while trying to figure the size of the tire and never knew I was inside, since the rear windows were out. I suprise them when I got out. I Looked at them and said its heavy trying to get it on there.

I had another time while walking towards the jeep I was several cars away . There was a young kid questioning the tires and winch. His mom was trying to do her best to explain what they are used for.

Got any pics of the spare tire? *hint hint* *cough* *picture request forum*

I remember giving some kids a ride in the Jeep on their birthday, during their party. Their mom was very stern in making sure they were tied down like hogs, lol. They were so excited.

Similar thing happened awhile back to some relatives of mine...after wheeling on a muddy backroad where cattle are routinely driven from one pasture to another, their Jeep was pretty muddy with regular mud and, umm...special mud. When they stopped at a convenience store, a kid in the parking lot said to his mother "Mama, look at that very muddy Jeep"... then he wrinkled up his nose and said "Mama that Jeep stinks, too!"
