Wonder how fast you have to spin that small of a motor to make those numbers.
I'll stick with v8'sMy 5500lb beast will do 30 in 3rd gear at 800rpm, lets see that thing do that.

the point of the v6 is that its making v8 horsepower and torque and its still getting 25mpg in a 5200lb truck
|
It's only making that torque at the ultra high end of the RPM range where 99.9% of people will never rev their engines that high!
I'll keep the V8 thank you very much. And as far as FORD goes

Bzzzzt. Flat wrong. The torque specs are 420 ftlbs at 2500 rpm. Not all turbos are tuned for high end torque, otherwise 18wheelers would be useless.

From what I've heard, it's still not quite ready to be out yet; And as far as the ''torture tests'' go, thats pretty much industry standard, so i'm not impressed.
However, You can't deny that the power is awesome

How pissed it makes that much power so low in the rev range.

I was being sarcastic, who'd of thunk it. I said "How pissed it makes that much power so low in the rev range" directing it at the guys dogging this 6 cyl power plant. This motor is awesome and has some SERIOUS potential, people are ragging on it because they're irritated that this 6 banger is throwing down more power and torque than their beloved V8s. Not to mention it gets better MPGs. Sure I LOVE a V8 in a truck, and I used to also think nothing but a big V8 should belong in a 1/2, 3/4 ton PU. But you simply can not argue with these numbers.

I agree, just didn't know what you were saying.
People do not realize how far engine technology has come recently.
Remember the old 5.0 302 HO that came in everything from Mustang's, Crown Vic's, T-Bird's, and trucks? They made 215hp and got crappy gas mileage in all of those cars/trucks.

Well yeah it makes as much power as the V8s, its got twin turbos. Put twin turbos on a V8 and see what happens. Thats why Subaru WRXs make so much power. Its a light vehicle and has a turbo thats basically the same size as the engine.
