A Windows 8 thread got me thinking about this. My friend built me a desktop PC in April. It's an amazing machine, SSD and all, yada yada yada. One thing that has ALWAYS bothered me though is that I can't for the life of me seem to get my fonts to look "clear" and "clean". When I got this, I was switching from a MacBook Pro, where all the fonts were beautifully smooth and crisp. I'm going to attach a screenshot to show you what I mean. I've tried the clear type thing numerous times, and it still looks crappy. I wouldn't have noticed this if I hadn't used my friends PC the other day.
Since you'll ask, my monitor is an Acer and it is 1080p. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Photo is here: http://sdrv.ms/16cOwQ9 I hope you can see what I mean. Your best option may be to download the photo since I think the resolution is reduced in that link.

You could be using the wrong resolution for your monitor, making it fuzzy. Google how to run the ClearType tuner for your version of Windows.
640x480 or 98760.1 x 12000
It doesn't matter what your video card can put out as much as what the native resolution on the monitor is. I'm running dual 27" view sonics at work and Before I replaced them I was runnning 1280x768, when the new monitors came that res looked like crap I reset it to the native 1920 x 1080 and everything is sharp, very small but sharp...now I just have to use the zoom feature to be able to read some stuff but there sure is a lot on the screens.....getting old sux.
