First "real" offroading trip today

Well..Ive popped my 4wheelin cherry..in a sense.

Ive had my jeep now for a few months and have screwed around the desert plenty.

But I went on my first real trail today...
We went up to the Table Mesa area north of Phoenix. We ended up on Anaconda..and eventually turned around. Anaconda is rated a 5 I believe. Wasnt too bad for this first timer ...We had to turn around though.

I learned a lot today. That lift that I was wanting...(RK LA) doesnt seem like its needed. I realized Im already running 33s..why go bigger for now? I need to focus on armoring it up. I hit my stock gas tank skid damn hard a few times. So I will be loading up on armor in the future. Then lockers F&R with 30 spline chromoly axles in the rear. Eventually getting my lift.

Lets just say I am addicted. And I understand why you all are addicted.

And I have to say the coolest thing was realizing I could let the clutch out at like 2 mph in 4L, not have it stall, and crawl over just about anything..

Ah Jeeps

Just bear with me, I am SO excited

Josh

It is that feeling that makes blowing all your money on parts justifiable.

I will soon be reliving this as my Jeep is being revived after being down for over a year and a half. I can't f-in wait.

Any pics?

Real nice scenery you boys got over there. With all the rocks armor should be your #1 priority.

in terms of armor, i'd suggest that the first thing you do would be to ditch the clearance-robbing tube steps and get some real rocker guards...

'95 YJ, Red, 4-banger, auto, 4.5" RE XD, .5" shackles, 33" MTRs on 15x10 AR 767 wheels, 4.56 gears, 8.8 rear with Detroit, Bulletproof f/r bumpers, misc. other stuff...

what do you know about Rock Armor? Seriously though, I agree, being from Arizona I would highly recommend a steering box skid, gas tank skid, and an oil pan skid in that order. You never know when a rock will come up and bite you. Gotta get your wheeling in soon, another month or so and it is only night runs till the winter.

here in ohio we worry about the bumpers and rockers first. All that mud and you slide right into trees

Looks like fun. You never forget your first time.

Over the mountains and through the woods, across the stream and up the slickrock, down the canyon and over the rocks to nobody's house I go.
