ooh good call. those are getting rare. i handed a check to a guy that was selling his dead wifes 96 a few years back. he changed his mind right then, handed me the check and told me he was gonna put it in storage. every 95, 96 & 97 i have found since has been ragged or bubbled.

stupid people.

as for the fox body folks. i just sold an 87 GT. they are fast in a strait line but the handling is much to be desired.

x2 on the miata w/ turbo or 302. Great autoX cars too. I think the 90's miata was lighter than the newer ones. A big guy looks silly in them, I know I drove one for a few days, but they are quick and nimble.

I owned one. Classy, fast as hell, euro look, I6 motor to favor our Jeeps

If your gonna AutoX or track, I would highly suggest the e36, e30.
Miata's No power. But they do handle very well.

F-Bodies handle very well in stock trim, a basic suspension kit with springs, sway bars, new bushings and adjustable shocks easily make them corner carvers just as well as any handling oriented vehicle.

For a fast cheap car, follow this simple formula:

Or spend 8-10 grand on a LS1 Camaro or Trans Am, and still be faster than the mustang stone stock!

The technical advice you get from me here is worth exactly what you paid me for it. Warranty issues will be reimbursed at double what you paid me for the advice.

I remember reading in a Mustang magazine about no matter how much money you drop into a mustang, if you drop the same amount into a camaro and you'll see tail lights everytime.

It ran great, had 90K on the clock and came with a full exhaust, shorty headers, 3.73's, C&L meter, and a cobra intake on it. All i put into it was a new floor, hood, pass side door, changed the oil and put new tires on the front.

I put almost 10K miles on it in under a year and the worst thing that happened was when i was powershifting from 2-3 it spun and i scraped the hell out of my rims on the curb.
I like Fox Body Mustangs, but the ones I see around here have too much rust or are worn down.. I'd love to own one though.. It's my favorite style

Or a 13B rotary engine.. Light, and good power.. Or, put a 20B and decimate all!

And to the dude talking about fast vs. quick... c'mon, get real. If my car goes 160mph it's going to 0-60 in 4 seconds. You don't really sacrifice acceleration for top speed or vice versa. This isn't MarioKart.
DSMs are horrible, every friend of mine that has one has a ton of problems. The 1st Gen are decent, but the 2nd gen are well known for crank-walk..

And A friend of mine has a 300+WHP 2nd Gen GSX and he had to change the internals out.. A 2JZ engine, on the other hand, can handle a lot on stock internals..

Miatas bad at AutoX? Are you insane? Miatas are one of THE BEST AutoX cars.. AutoX here are dominated by Miatas, the 90s ones that is.. They are light and handle extremely well.. Put some money into the engine and they are an AutoX beast.. My friend with a 93 RX7 TT even said so..
