Fake Christmas Tree???

This year my father is considering a fake christmas tree to throw up in the attic and have at hand for years to come. He says he doesn't want a real tree anymore, and thinks it'll be more convenient to just have a fake tree to put up. He wants to drop a decent amount of money for a "nice" fake christmas tree that "looks" real. Now for me this just doesn't exist, any fake tree is a miserable tree.

I want to keep the tradition of a real tree in our home for christmas, (my brothers and my mother feel the same way) as it just makes more sense, smells nice and adds that extra feeling to a holiday. A fake tree would be lame.

I was wondering what you guys think of fake christmas trees? Does anyone agree with me about hating them? Also what would be some good reasons to tell my father to not even THINK about getting a fake one.

I've had a fake tree for years, and just bought a new one this year. 9' tall, pre-wired lights, and it looks very real until you get about 2-3 feet away. Real trees cost an arm and a leg down here in the desert since they're a bit hard to come by, so a fake one is not only practical, but cost-efficient as well.

I am RIGHT there with ya man!

I absolutely refuse to have a fake tree - and I'm the one that keeps it watered and vacuums up the needles!!! I love the smell and feel of a real tree, plus I love going to pick out "just the right one" etc. It's so much fun to me! It makes Christmas so much more special! Real NICE trees are only like $40 here anyway - probably less. I would feel like the holiday was missing something if I were to just pull a pre-lit tree out of the attic and plop it into my living room. Yeah, it's low maintenance, but so is having nothing to take down, put away and store! It's all a matter of perspective.

Fake tree here. You don't have to worry about cleaning up pine needles with the fakes and it's cheaper overall.

you should have a family member or friend set the fake tree up out in the woods then come get you to go find "that perfect tree"

once home and set up....you can find pine scent candles or hell..even a car deodorizer...

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatem.

I work at a tree lot selling REAL trees and people complain about paying $50 but it goes to support a local scout troop and it does cost us about 35 per tree wholesale price. so we aint making much $ afterwards.

Besides

Fake Tree = nice fire

Real Tree if properly watered = as flame proof as asbestos

A christmas tree only costs us 20 or 25$. We've gotten a real one every year and as far as I'm concerned a fake tree is for lazy people. I like the smell and the maintenence is something that has come with my holidays since I've been born.

Depends on the fake tree. My tree weighs over 100 lbs., has over 60 individual branches, contains 1800 lights, and takes me two hours to put it up properly (not including any decorations). Believe me, if it made financial sense, I'd be going down to the corner lot to buy one, because it would certainly be easier!

In the past we have had the tradition of going out in the snow with family and going "Christmas Tree Shooting" Where you shoot down the tree. Then with young ones, it became Christmas tree hunting and sawing it down. But now with environmental allergies, it has become the Costco Fake Christmas Tree. Actually it looks pretty good until you are within 2 feet. No mess, no allergies, etc.

Do what I did. Go cut a young Cedar tree out of the back yard. Then, get to go buy another, new cedar tree once your father informs you how stupid you were for cutting down a live, slow growing tree. Oh, to be 13 again.

Fake tree = what Christmas has become

Real tree = what Christmas should always be.

Ha ha--I thought we were the only ones who did this--two or three 32 round mags out of the sub gun and down it comes--just doesn't get much better than that!
