Marn you may want to look for a plastic paint. Fabric dye didn't work because the nylon will not absorb the color. Fabric paints are based on the same idea. Look for a plastic paint such as krylon fusion.

Personally I wouldn't paint them. No matter what you do it will end up looking worse. The paint either will not cover or if you get enough on to cover and look good it will have filled in the texture in spots and be glossy and messed up looking.

I have no idea how to do it just wanted to explain why the dye didn't work. Maybe talk to someone who does upholstery.

Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric Dye. It can be found at walmart in the auto paints section.

I used this on a few musclecars, a couple VWs and my jeep. On the jeep... I used it on the dash, carpets, and roll bar pads, door panels and fender flares.... everything looks brand new.

Forget the naysayers that say painting them won't work or it will look worse... they've never tried it and are talking out their ***.

Use light dusting coats until covered. Don't use thick coats on hard plastics as it can run easily. You should be able to soak your roll bar covers

Here is mine after dying the dash, carpets and pads... everything used to be grey..

I've had the interior covered in mud and pressure washed it a few times and it hold up great. It's also sat out in the sun all summer without fading.

I've used krylon fusion as well but it sucks in my opinion compared to the duplicolor, napa, and marhyde brands.

You should clean your surfaces before you use it. I use 3M wax and adhesive remover (can also be found in the walmart auto paint section) Also, use a plastic adhesion promoter on hard plastics like the door panels. (this can be found at an auto parts store)

Vinyl or leather paint works good.
I have done many parts in my Vette that came in different colors.
Do even coats, and no more than two coats. The Vynil paint will have a semi mate finish, close to original vynil. Mine have not peeled after years of been painted.
