Ever Gotten anyone fired?

Has anyone ever gotten someone fired?

I feel totally crappy about this. Where I work, we've been dealing with vandalism. We mounted a network camera in a hallway. Anyway, we didn't catch the vandals, but we caught an employee doing something petty and they want to fire this person. I feel very uneasy about it, as its an offense that really just warrants a stern talking to.

Then ask them to talk to the employee about it as opposed to firing the person better to make them feel that they are worth something to the company and that they value their help rather than to make them hate them.

I wish I had any influence on upper management. Unfortunatly, they consider IT to be about one notch above the janitors.

I really didn't think that I should have been the one to install a camera in that building when the other buildings are monitored by a separate system that I don't have access to. Whomever is responsible for the other buildings should have had to deal with this situation.

Ive fired a couple people. I set them up for doing something better than what they did and they failed at it.

This doesnt sound that bad at all.

I have been contributing to getting someone fired (other employees are pressuring the boss to fire him as well) because his poor work habits and total lack of competence makes my everyday life harder and actually puts me at risk because he often touches my work after I do (he shouldn't) and I will be held responsible for it if I can't prove he did it.

However I saw his family dropping him off at work the other day and that made me feel bad for him. He is grossly incompetent and I am sure sooner or later he will get fired whether I help or not, but now I will find it harder to add my 2cents to the stack against him (at least until the next time I catch him messing with my work).

This individual is a good worker and seems to be efficient, which makes me feel bad about having mentioned the content of the DVR.

They asked if I saw any vandals and I said, "Nope, just so and so going home at 10:45 every night". It was then that they asked me to burn it to dvd. I appologize for being vuague, but one of the higher ups has a Jk and I worry that he might frequent JF. I just feel crappy that I had to open my big mouth. They probably never would have asked for the disk if I hadn't mentioned it.

Well think of it this way dude, would you do what he did? No? WHY? Because you are not stupid and know that its not cool. I too felt the same way as you until I was put in charge of about 35+ people. I had one guy fired b/c he was an ******* to everyone at work, and I havent regret it since. If these guys don't want to be fired, they shouldnt screw around.

In some states, the need to provide for childcare would be sufficient to force the employer to pay unemployment benefits if they fire the worker.

Try mentioning that.

'tis what I've always heard. We had a guy come in a few weeks ago that was high on something, bumping into stuff couldn't see straight (temp worker too!) and they took him to the break room and asked what was up and he said he took some "benadryl" I want some if it makes me act a fool like that, his shirt was on backwards and it all looked like he'd had it on since yesterday. We got him to call somebody to come get him (no use in letting him drive!) and he told his mom "my truck broke down." That did it, they let him go. To make matters worse, when he was told his cell phone was ringing he took off and ran drunkenly all the way across the room to the water fountain to answer it?! Had one who didn't show up Monday who was falsely arrested and denied a phone call, nobody knew where he was. (yeah, I believe him seriously, he's a good guy, somebody said his car matched the description of one that fled a shooting scene in B'ham, murder capital USA) Finally and best of all was a guy who worked for us sorting parts. He liked to lay around while sorting stuff and sometimes he'd fall asleep whilst doing it. Well, one day the plant manager was walking through and found him. OUCH! bad day for the guy, funny as hell for the rest of us when he was caught stretched out on a piece of cardboard sorting stuff! So Boreal, I agree completely.

I worked for a retail store and caught another employee abusing the employee purchase policy by using his discount for his friends. I didn't think twice about turning him in; a thief is a thief no matter how they steal. Later, the company researched all of his employee purchases and found that he was grossly abusing the privilege, so I apparently saved the company some good money.

One time I broke the printer by using paper towel in it, so I blamed it on the slow guy in the office and got his *** fired!

I can't imagine working somewhere that fires you for leaving 10 minutes early, what a bunch of hardasses.
