Ever been fired?

Well? Wife just changed jobs of her own decision, got me to thinking...I've never been fired, always left a job as a result of going somewhere else (and most often, better). Don't know if that's common or if most people do get fired sometime during their working years. Note that I'm not asking about being laid-off. I'm talking, arse kicked out to door for being a total bollix.

Yeah, I've been fired....stupid Bi-Lo. They decided they were losing too much inventory to employee theft, which I was a part of. So they called in these experts to interview everyone and crap. Somehow I managed to avoid them until they were almost gone. But my day finally came and I just went ahead and told them I'd stolen about $10 worth of stuff. I guess it was my fault for getting fired, but yeah, I've been fired.

I got fired along witht he rest of my shift because tehy were upset at our productivity, apparently 6 guys on nights cleaning a warehouse, and loading 2/3 the amount of trailers as the 12 guys on days are loading (no cleaning for them, just loading trailers) are being non-productive.

i've been fired. I got accused of stealing by an employee that was under me b/c i called him out on his productivity, and he didnt like it. THey had no proof, but fired me anyways. Oh well... I ended up at a better job anyways.

New management came in our shop and in a few months five techs (including me) were fired. Basically on the grounds of "your productivity isn't quite high enough" translated to "I dont like you so good bye".

Fired, ,no.
Laid off, ,yes.

They had lay offs and in two rounds pink slipped around 13,000 of us. :-(

I had only been with the company 14.5 years.

Been fired from Oracle. I took it personal after developing a new translating system over the existing one producing almost a 100 percent accuracy. After wading in their inefficient system for two years, I worked weekends to make the whole translated product completelly consistent. I was rewarded by getting kicked in the arse, so they could hired more keyboard monkeys to work for cheap with my project.

Hated it so much that almost gave me an ulcer.

"Fine. If you don't come in today you can take every other day off too!"
Does that count??? It was my first job (low wage, going nowhere) so I didn't mind.

I about crapped when I saw the Simpons episode;

Marge: "Homer, work's on the phone. They say if you don't show up today, don't bother coming in Monday."

Homer: "Woohoo! Four-day weekend!"

Heh. I got fired from 7-11. It was one of those 'in between job' type jobs. It was one of the funnest jobs ive had though. I started working there with a couple of friends and 711 soon became the place to hang out. The parking lot was full of friends and friends of freinds, etc... every night. people used to come in and eat all the hotdogs, donuts, nachos, and stuff that were to be thrown away daily. man. that place was packed every single night. It was like an import show or something.

anywayz... One night I went out side, then washed and dried my jeep. Well one of these drunk fools that I didnt know started spraying his car down and I told him "dont get my jeep wet man". so this guy starts soaking my jeep and I go over there and wrestle the hose out of his hand so I could soak his ***. well his friend kinks the hose so it wouldnt spray anymore and I said "ill be here all night. as soon as you let it go, your gonna get it". well they start making their way to the store door because they thought they would be safe inside. they let go of the hose, ran inside, and I gave chase. I soaked those punks and everyone else inside. that store was soaked. man.. people were running, hiding and the girls were screaming. Everyone outside was rolling with laughter. it was a fun night.
well.. I figured I would get away with it if I cleaned up pretty good. I was wrong. The store was spotless, but the owner checked the security cams because his sales were rock bottom lately and there were zero sales that night. He calls me in the office the next day and I was like "damn". He sits me down and puts in the security tape and has me watch it. he says "what the hell is this?" and starts lecturing me on how he couldnt believe his eyes and stuff. It gets to the part where im about to run in with the hose and he fast forwards the tape past that part. I can see people scattering everywhere, but I keep a straight face. then he asks if its ok if I dont return and I say "yeah.. thats fine. I understand" and we part ways.
well he calls my other friends in there and plays the tape and it gets to the part where im spraying everyone in the store and they bust up laughing. He says "you think thats funny???" with a pissed off look on his face. My friend replies "hell yeah" and starts crying with laughter. Then the owner starts to laugh and says "yeah.. it is pretty funny". then my other friend says "look... ill save you the time. I quit" and they both walk out. its been a good bonfire story and my friends still cry with laughter when I tell it. im sure its funnier than I describe though.

I got fired when I didn't like the bull**** that my company was feeding me and I told my regional manager that he was full of ****. So yeah...I also collected unemployment for it too. I mean if you had the highest performance ratings in your area and your the lowest paid member in your department by a good 2 bucks an hour and they tell you that you can't have a raise because they cant afford it...what would you do?

The only job I have ever been fired from was my first corporate job. It was back in the early 90s when the internet was starting to take off. I wanted to get into computers and my father in law had a friend who ran a private ISP. The guy who ran the ISP was really nice and I respected him alot. He did, however, make one fatal mistake. He put his cocky 16 year old son in charge of me. This 16 year old kid told me my first day there that I didn’t have the aptitude or the intelligence to learn about routers or firewalls. Every time I would ask him to teach me something he would say he was busy and didn’t have time to waste on me. This kid had major power issues. He was constantly screaming at people at the phone and stomping around the office. This went on for several months and each day I would ignore him and study on my own. One night all of my frustration came to a boil. I had been at the office from 6:30 in the morning until 6:30 at night. I started packing up to head out and the 16 year old stuck his head in my office and asked where I was going. He said I wasn’t to leave until he told me I could. He stated that he wanted me to start staying until 8:00 because that was the only time he had to train me. I got about an inch from his nose and was ready to tear him up. The thought crossed my mind that his dad was my father in laws friend and that I had better take the high road. I didn’t swing at him I just backed up and walked out. As I was walking out to the car he came running out yelling at me not to leave until he said I could. I dropped my bag and started walking toward him with murder in my eyes. He got the point and quickly headed back inside. I got in my car and left. The next day his dad had a conference with both us and said that we should work out our differences. I couldn’t get along with this guy as hard as I tried. His dad would catch me glaring at him and he knew that violence was inevitable. Finally his dad fired me because of personal differences. I was really depressed and went home to tell the wife. That afternoon I put my resume on line and went out to eat. When I got home I had 22 messages from recruiters. I was out a few months ago and actually saw the 16 year old punk. The ironic part is, is that he is now going to school to be a pastor. I hope he has truly changed or I pity his poor congregation. I guess forgiving and forgetting is in order…
