Bump for a old thread that I really want to know the outcome for. Did anyone find out?

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

This happened last summer (2008), I was 24.

I've had to deal with a few people trying to organise HOAs in places I've lived.

"Good after-noon. I'm trying to collect signatures to start a Homeowner's Association..."

SLAM!

I usually start a counterpetition the next day, gather most of the signatures in the neighbourhood (seems the HOA advocate never mentions that you have to pay them for the privilege of telling you what to do...)

When they come around again, I note the addresses on the petition (the organiser and the office where they plan to send it) and send my petition in first. Cuts 'em right off!

Sometimes, if I'm feeling charitable, I'll tell them I did it.

The problem I have with HOAs? Whenever I get told what to do and money changes hands, it's always been me getting paid! It's bad enough that HOAs can tell you what to do for no good reason, but I'm not about to pay them for the privilege of doing so to boot!

"Either you can pay me, or you can exclude me. Take your pick, but I'm not playing your asinine little game. Deal."

"What if we organise and pass it anyhow?"

"Pay me or exclude me. No other option. Everyone else who has wanted to tell me what to do on a personal level has paid me for the privilege of doing so - you will not be an exception."

"How much would we have to pay you?"

"Exactly twice as much as you can con people into paying you. Per member of my household."

HOA's can be a good thing, I know they are unpopular on this forum but many neighborhoods have deteriorated property value wise from neighbor's who just don't care about their property (or property they are renting), the trick is finding one that's just involved enough to make sure there is no garbage or junk cars on the front lawn but not so involved that they dictate what color you can paint your house, etc...
