Emergency Vehicles

What all kinds of fire trucks and other emergency vehicles are there?

For instance, I know there are engines and ladders. I'm sure there are other kinds too.

Pics would be awesome.

Many of our first responders are volunteers and use their own vehicles, anything would be possible in my area. Even horses can be used.

Our sheriffs office has a lifted k10 painted camo with some m/ts on it they use I guess for chasing down bad guys running through the woods where its gets real muddy and for search and rescue. They same office has a 5.0 fox body mustang they got from a drug dealer. Threw some lights and decals on it now they run the streets with it.

POV's are a class of their own for sure.

I never thought about horses though. I could definitely see them for S&R.

I found another "class" of vehicles called "brush fire trucks". Those are neat!

We have a Lenco Bearcat. Ive seen tanks, escalades, hummers, mustangs, lowriders, silverado ss's, etc.... Lots of those are seized during drug busts.

The bearcat is an extremely cool vehicle that fits law enforcement perfectly. We also have dirtbikes for certain types of patrol.

The there are ambulances and hose dragger trucks, hehe....

In law enforcement, horses are cool for public relations, but they work best for crowd/riot control. Nobody wants to tangle with a horse.

What is a Bearcat?

And what is a hose dragger?

I've been a Park Ranger for a couple years; we only use LEO trucks, pretty basic.

However, I recently started volunteering with S&R. Their equipment is considerably different. We have like a mini ambulance for crashes, couple different boats, one bus for swift water team, one bus for (I forget the technical term since I'm still new) if the radios go down, there is "Mobile command" I think it's called. Couple four wheelers, and a couple "mountain trucks" since we live in a mountainous locale. Basically just trucks with decent tires and cargo beds.

So I'm just learning as I go how people do things.

It depends on how they are outfitted. Most are for entry vehicles for hostile situations. There is a good chance that it will be used as a rescue vehicle during those situations.

That's neat!

I guess I'm just more into the offroad stuff.

I found a offroad trailer online yesterday that was basically just a backboard and a single chair for the medic. It was cool. Bounce the patient around a lot. Lol

My county has random "Emergency Response" vehicles. They are painted similar to cop cars but they are usually F250's and they have strobes on the inside of the glass. I think they are government workers (not cops) that help out in low level emergencies. I see them pull people out of ditches and snow banks.

Also, is anyone else seeing the new Ford Explorer as cop cars? They are pretty scary looking when behind you. My county is full of them. They also go the Chevy Caprice as the new sedan.

My hometown was the first department in the world to order the Ford Interceptors and Explorers. And they ordered a fleet.
