Besides, the point is stupid. Just because something worse has happened in the past doesn't make what's going on now right. It's like Sean Hannity arguing that because WW2 was just, the war in Iraq is just. It's just some anti-Democrat garbage. That's like saying we shouldn't regard the Holocaust as a tragedy because the 6 million people killed don't measure up to the 8-12 million killed by the Belgians in the Congo or the 20 million killed under Stalin.

I agree.

"In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. "
riiigght, all we did was go to their house, destroy their playground(training camps) and evicted them. Im sure I don't have to dig up links to news articles on attacks all over the world AFTER 9/11 do I?

BTW, there's probably a video down at the bottom of the page you might've missed. The video shows one of the current presidential candidates saying, "I approve this message".

I am anything but a liberal also. But the "facts" in the email are a little off.

Quote:
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT)
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation..
How long have we been in Iraq, We started when I was in the Navy, Ive been out since 2005.

Quote:
We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.
Quote:
It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!
Again we have been in Iraq for years.

Im not against the war, Im not a liberal, Im not a democrat, but the email is full of ****. Its too bad its not all accurate.

But our mission was accomplished five years ago. Didn't you see the big media event and the big banner?

I think thats the point. The big argument is Iraq never attacked us but we went in anyway. Well its been done plenty of times before. This just points out to all the "Republicans are for war" people that the Democrats do the same thing.

Again, I dont know what they meant, but I assume when it says "the time it took to take Iraq", it means how long it took for the initial push to take control away from the Iraqi government, not how long we've been there.
I dont know if it is 100% accurate, but when you take this definition of "the time it took", what else is incorrect?

The only thing missing from my post that was in the e-mail was the pictures of all the people it talks about. If the candidate you are referring to is McCain, why wouldnt he? The Democrates are running as anti-war and painting the Republicans as war-mongers when in fact is it has been just Bush.

<<<<<<<<<< In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq>>>>>>>>>>>>>

PLEASE TELL ME HOW 39 brave soldiers dying has ANY comparision to 35 drug infested home boys shooting each other??????

IF ANYTHING the point should be made that in addition to not protecting law abiding citizens from shootings in Detroit he also lost 39 soldiers he doesn't give a rats about!

We enter the zone of impressive numbers when we consider the onetime cost of the 1996 floods ($27 billion, but still cheaper than the 1998 floods), the annual direct losses due to desertification ($42 billion), and the annual losses due to water and air pollution ($54 billion). The combination of the latter two items alone costs China the equivalent of 14% of its GDP each year." - Jared Diamond, Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed

So were they "drug infested home boys" or "law abiding citizens?"

Nevermind, I see what you did there..

Like I said, I just reposted it. I did some looking around and you are right.
This is from an UrbanLegend site:

Quote:
Although by some accounts Howard Metzenbaum did not at any time accuse John Glenn of literally never holding a job, an exchange similar to above did take place over a period of days during the 1974 Ohio primary election in which Glenn battled Metzenbaum for the Democratic nomination for U.S. senator.

Metzenbaum, whose strategy throughout the campaign included questioning Glenn's civilian leadership experience, apparently remarked during a speech that the career Marine and former astronaut had "never met a payroll," or words to that effect. Somehow this morphed into "never held a job" in the press coverage of the campaign (and continues to be reported that way to this day), and Glenn took the straw man and ran with it in a May 3, 1974 debate with Metzenbaum at the Cleveland City Club.
It also appears that this e-mail has been circulation for over 4 years now, hence the reason the Iraq vs Detroit deaths might not line up with this January.
Also, the John Glenn part has nothing to do with the war part and they were just mashed together as a support the troops/pro-military thing.
