One semester in the dorms was enough for me. I quit that nonsense and bought a house

meh, it's not so bad. Thing is I work full time and still haven't graduated. Been there for 5 years now. The hardest part is the down payment, then you just have to have a decent job and you can make the mortgage with lots left over. Good jobs are out there for college kids, most of them are just too lazy to find them

One of my suite mates last year was dating an RA, and before that he was banging another one. Our suite got away with just about anything. There are some cool RAs out there, but I found that many of them are kind of policy pushing pricks.
Even thoguh we had parties and drank any time we wanted in the dorms, I still didn't like it. I moved off campus, too bad none of my friends did. I am stuck in the aprtments right off campus, next to the campus police (a divion of the sheriff). I wish that I could have found some room mates that wanted to live further away. I like to feel like that I am not part of campus when I leave school. Oh well, better than living on campus again.

Hmm, a house, 2 vehicles, and a boat. Student.
I'm going to wait for someone more qualified than me to step in here and comment on this. .

One "fire alarm" in which someone pulled the handle on purpose an RA caught a couple having sex in a dorm room. This was on a Christian campus...though it was a football player that got caught with the girl. They sure where embarrassed when they came out with next to nothing on. What made it even better was the fact it was 30* outside and it was late at night.

I don't think you are, but are you telling the whole story? You're insinuating you are a full time student, and work, and have EARNED enough to buy a house, two cars, boat, insuarance, food, taxes, utilities, etc. Not trying to bust your chops, but that seems like a little stretch. Me thinks you may have other sources of income. Any Daddy, wife, girlriend, trust fund, etc that you forgot to mention?
If you are doing all that without any help then you might have somethng to brag about, and I'll shut up. Normally I wouldn't say anything. But I've noticed you are always quick to throw in an accounting of your material posessions, even when its irrelevant to the subject being discussed. I just find that in poor taste, but unfortunately typcal of our materialistic society these days.
If I've misinterpreted anything you have said, then I'll apologize in advance.

Meh, I'm impartial to RAs. Some of them were real *******s, and the only joy in their life was making your life miserable. Some of them were really cool and had a great sense of humor. i.e. my freshman year RA chose my buddy's dorm room for all the visitors to take a tour of on tour day, or whatever it was called, because he kept getting woken up every Sunday morning by beer cans and bottles being emptied into the garbage.
On another note, I once got drunk with one of the chick RAs (who was one of my RAs the year before) on Halloween of my sophomore year, and ended up at her place for the night. Yatzee!

Yah I'm materialistic, it's all I've got right now
My point it, everyone thinks you've gotta be poor till you're in your 30s. Not the case at all. You're right, I've had a little help here and there from my dad, but 98% of what I've got, I worked for and purchased on my own. The house was the hardest thing. My dad and I each put $10k down on it. I could have swung the payments without his help, but it was nice of him. One of my trucks is a 1979 ford I paid $2200 for. The other one is a '00 GMC I paid $11k for. My boat was $5k. It's just a 20ft aluminum runabout with a 70horse motor.
So really, not very "cool" stuff, but it works and I like it. I do go to school full time (12 credits a a semester in the evenings) and I work on average 50 hours a week, 7 days a week.
Not the choice everyone wants to make, but for me, having a home an toys was more important than college parties. I make around 60k a year after taxes.
You can have your cake and eat it at 22. I'm living proof

Wait ... 10k is 2% of 10k? Damn, I must've skipped math.
Just kidding, you have far more common sense than most ... have "cheap" cars and buy a house, good move. I should do the same. Should. Won't.
