Driving lights or fog lights

What should I get to put on my bumper, driving lights or fog lights? I had some cheapo walmart things that looked like factory knockoffs, but they broke. I know someone's gonna tell me to get daylighters, but I want something thats road legal. What are the pro's and con's of fogs and driving lights?

I'm leaning towards fogs because the stock TJ lights do fairly well with long distance (in fact, I rarely if ever use my high beams) and the factory knockoffs worked well lighting that area close to the jeep.

driving lights fog lights

my logic being well what I said above, and with driving lights I'd have to be flipping them on and off all the time so I didn't blind other drivers.

I'm also figureing on the hella 500's. Any comments?

I suppose the real question is, do you drive in fog often? If so, foglights may be helpful towards your application.

Personally, I don't get much fog around here, so my foglights are pretty much useless

what are you going to use them for? looks and maybe night wheeling?
the two pics you posted show the difference in the two lights, the fogs are not as bright and are there to enchance the visibilty of the road under foggy/snowy conditions not to light up the road. they are aimed lower and obviously dont cover as much distance, the driving lights do just the opposite.

if you are going to use them for night wheeling, personally Id go with the driving lights as the idea is to light up everything you can so you arent getting worked.
fogs dont seem to project enough light in my opinion for that.

Daylighters aren't that expensive, and worth it IMHO. I have a set of the stainless 150W daylighters, and let me tell you..they don't have their name for nothing! You can feel the heat of the light beam from 10 feet away on a warm sunny day. I kid you not, these things put out light!
They aren't road legal..but then again, if you don't have them on with a cop heading your way, you have nothing to worry about. When you see how bright they are, you will understand that these are TOO BRIGHT to flash at people on the highway for any reason.

aren't driving lights just going to do the same thing my hibeams do? A driving light will bling oncoming traffic, won't it?

If you are driving in places that have oncoming traffic, you probably won't need the driving lights. Yes, they blind oncoming traffic. Definitely recommended though for driving in dark places. They work far better than the high beams, seriously. Turn the high beams on, then these, you will laugh at how you ever thought the Highs were light at all! It truly is amazing.

I point my driving lights down and out a bit for normal driving and for use as fogs. They are stiff, but I can move them to more of a driving light position if I need to.

19mm wrench moves the daylighters..but they are torqued down pretty hard. The only way I've found to accurately aim them is to find a level road on a foggy night..
