I had dish network for a couple of months and it would go off it the weatherman on tv said it MIGHT rain the following week. I went back to cable.

Dish Network. HD channels are always the first to drop and will do so in a really heavy rain. Regular channels have only gone away once. It rained, then snowed sideways onto the dish, then got really cold. That was superbowl sunday halfway through the game and our dish was frozen solid (no tv) until the next morning.

Most likely your dish wasn't properly aligned. It takes some pretty serious towering cumulus before my setup sees any rain fade...

Not cheap at close to $100 but well worth it to me -- my dish is at the peak of the roof and virtually impossible to clear by hand when it's snowing.

DirecTV here and even during the pretty heavy rainstorms we had last month we had no major signal interruption, still get the occasional dropout/codec garbling, but for all I know that's the transmitter breaking stuff up to stop anyone copying it

DISH here, I have only lost signal twice, both times for just a matter of a minute or two and during horrendous rain storms. No ice or snow here. My installer told me some of the same stuff mentioned above. Primarily that how well your dish is pointed makes a huge difference.

I have been very pleased with DISH!
