Have only lost the signal once in a storm but that was an ice storm and the dish was covered in ice.

Dish Network---it all depends on how well installed it is. A storm 10 miles away would disable ours... so we called to have it adjusted and it'll hold up much better now, although a bad Florida thunderstorm will still set it off.

I have DirecTV and have had for just over 8 years, on average I lose it for 20 mins a year. I usually never lose it "during a storm" but it will get choppy right as a storm is coming. I also have so many giant trees on my property and very little sky view that the installer said they couldn't do it. So I did it myself and I have been ultra happy.

I would never go back to cable.

I will only lose signal for a brief periods when very intense thunderstorms are around. Typical garden variety rain or snowstorms do nothing. As noted by others, sticky snow or ice buildup on the dish can cause signal loss. If you live in an area that gets that kind of winter weather, think about mounting your dish where you can clean it off easily.

Dish for over 7 years and have lost signal only from snow on the dish -- but never since I installed the dish heater.

JG, do you have dish or direct?

We have Direct right now, and it has done fairly well during storms, may go out a handful of times during the year, not very long at any time. But we're thinking of switching to Dish, so I'm curious as to how it holds up also.

I have direct TV and I only lose signal when the dish gets caked with snow and ice. I keep the ladder on that side of the house during the winter, with a little wisk broom nearby. It only happens when it's snowing AND windy, so the stuff gets plastered on the dish. They have dish heaters?

I once climbed the ladder and cleaned the dish in a snowstorm with a broken leg. Didn't know it was broken yet though. That could have been ugly.

We have Dish TV. We have had very very few service interruptions in the past 7 years or so that we have had it. They are usually very brief and only caused by very very heavy rainfall, hail, or snow. My friends with cable say that they also lost their service during the same time since cable uses Satellite for transmission.

We have Dish and it's great....The only problem we had was during a major snow storm...As soon as we knocked off the snow off the satellite it was fine......

One step beyond................

I have ExpressVu, which is the Canadian equivalent of Dish. Both systems use the same (Echostar) hardware.

We have direcTV and it has been great. Have had it for about 4-5 years and its only gone out maybe twice during really ridiculous storms.
