did i find a deal on an 8.8?

hey. i found in Craigslist an 8.8 out of an explorer for 100 bucks about 2 hrs away from where i live. it is for leaf springs, has 3.55 gears which i will be changing to 4.88's anyway, and drum brakes. good deal?

Sounds like a nice deal. As long as it's in good condition.
Ask for a picture first and make sure it's straight.

Remember though, if you're going to regear it will pay to start with a new master install kit.

Drum brakes, 2 hours away, 3.55 gears? I wouldn't go for that one, keep looking.

Ah, missed the drum brakes part.
PASS ON IT.
If I recall the dics has more splines and is a better route.

Wrong. I have a 92 exploder with the 28 spline drum brake 8.8 rear axle.
