Definitely looks cool, know if there's a release date (ish) yet? Q4 next year maybe?

can't wait. I lost most of my high school years to D2, no reason I shouldn't waste a few of the adult ones to D3

I never really got into D2, although I did waste unhealthy amounts of time on Everquest, Neocron (bet you've never heard of that one), Galaxies and Warcrack

Haven't been obsessed with a game since Mass Effect, but Fallout 3 is out in a couple of weeks, that could be problematic.

I hope Fallout 3 releases before I have to go back to work.

Current release date is October 28th, it's gone gold already so it should make that no problem.

I already have the ridiculous collector's edition with the lunch box, Vault Boy bobble head and Pip Boy 3000 alarm clock pre-ordered

(normally I don't go for special edition games, but the crap that comes with this one is just too cool )

So far it looks pretty good (I can't view the video at work), and from what I've seen it appears the line between WoW and Diablo is being blurred in terms of gameplay. Which is a good thing, WoW took the best elements of D2 and it only makes sense to take the best of WoW and work it into D3. It'll probably be one of those games that I'll get a few months after its release.
Right now my gaming is split 70/30 between WoW and Half Life 2, respectively.

I wonder if they're gonna charge to play online. They said it's through battlenet, but i wouldn't put it past Blizzard to try to make more cash off it.

Im still buying it either way, I love d2 online, and with this one no more click happy fools taking your items. They have a rolling system.

I really hope they don't charge for battlnet, that might actually be enough to drive me away from the game.

Maybe this time around, they can make the gold actually retain value, rather than being replaced by SOJ's and Runes... I'm a little curious if they are going to include new Rune words though.

I had a Level 98 Barbarian with an Enigma chest plate, and 2 BoD Axes, and Avenger Helm. I enjoyed beating the crap out of people, and then teleporting away.

I didn't play D2 online a whole lot, but heard about the SoJs being the new currency. What was it that made gold lose its value? And where did people get all the SoJs?

Gold was available in such a large abundance that it never retained value for rare/special items. SOJ's were pretty rare in the game, so people started using them as the currency as a replacement for gold. Actually, now they are using Runes for currency, being that SOJ's were cloned so many times, they became over-abundant as well.

No worries they have said they won't charge for battle.net and they are going to try their best to make it so gold is actually useful and used a lot more for trading/buying etc.
