I'll have to upload a picture of my favorite. It's a Winchester 94 Trapper in 30-30 with a Williams FP peep sight.

I almost bought that exact rifle... in fact I was going to... but I ended up instead buying a Model 94 in 17HRM to hunt prairie dogs with. Got 60 of the little fat bastards last summer in Wyoming. I love how smooth the lever action is on a 94. I grew up using my grandfather's 22.

How do you like the 6.8? I plan building an AR next year and I can't decide between .223 or 6.8

6.8 Rem has about the same range as .223 Rem, but much better terminal ballistics.

I haven't gone hunting in the last three years, but when I did, and when I do again, I use an 8mm Mauser. WWII German standard issue bolt action combat rifle.
Has a swastika stamped right on the barrel. My grandfather managed to smuggle 5 of these back home with him, as well as a fully auto one. Not to mention, about 20 other guns he gathered up during his tour in Germany.
The one I use is the only one of the five that have ever been fired. They were all brand new from the factory when they found them.
It's got a sport stock, as well as a scope mounted on it.
Awesome gun, lots of stopping power!

For hunting, 6.8 all the way...took that hog straight to the ground w/ 1 shot...also got a turkey @ 218 yards....I was pretty damn impressed by myself as well as the gun. That was the first time I'd ever fired the gun except for the range, and I've gotta say, I was impressed. The 6.8 is basically just a screamin .270, so it's obviously the much better choice for hunting (reason we got it is cause I lost a deer two years ago w/ the .223 cause it didn't leave a blood trail.)

Anyways, the .223 doesn't go hunting anymore, and I'm basically just slowly building a rock-solid combat rifle out of it....(should be getting better rails and a light for Christmas... )

Though I am a total gun guy, I am inclined to agree with you. I don't even rifle hunt. On the rare year that I do hunt at all I use a bow. If you can't get a deer on the first day of the hunt with a rifle, you suck! I could have had 2 in the first hour of this years deer hunt if I had a rifle. If I ever do hunt with a firearm it will be a handgun or a flintlock muzzleloader. Thing is, I don't really even want to get a deer. I don't like venison! I do like sneaking around the woods in camo with a weapon though
