Death Valley- exploration.

I am a big fan of Death Valley
exploring the back roads, canyons, ghost towns, mining camps. I have been going there for the last 6 years- once a year.
anyone know the area and have sugestions on trails, (not suprise canyon- that is hell and I don't have winch)
The place is great - camping - 4x4- just exploring- I've done it on my dual sport with the wife on the back, Blazer, Cherokee, 1500, jeep. Just like to know what other people have found.
Kirk

Hi Kirk. My family and I love Death Valley. Some of my favorite areas are Chloride Cliffs, Hunter mountain, and the Racetrack. Last trip we went to Saratoga Springs. Beautiful sunsets. I want to do South Park, but something always seems to get in the way (snow, weather, etc.)
Do you do any exploring in the mojave? Mojave NP?

Hey Ron
I've been around Red Rock, Jaw Bone, Dove Springs, Angeles Mountains. Some mining areas around Rosamond. I live in Lake Elizabeth, my backyard is the national forest!!! Last visit to Death Valley we went to Chloride Cliffs, we went in before Daylight pass and came out the other side- there are some pretty good trails in there along the cliffs. We went through Bullfrog and Rhyolite. Did the road from westside road through Goler Wash down into Ballarat. Some pretty cool places through there. The maps arn't that great but we found the way. Done the race track but have not gone up Hunter mountain yet. The place has a mystic to it that draws you back. I love the place.

Yeah, it is funny, but my family and I feel the same way about the racetrack. It really seems to have this almost mystic pull. There are some interesting looking roads that explore between Hunter Mt and Teakettle Jct. I haven't done those yet.

I went out to the race track- climbed up the grandstand- I think the wind must have been going about 100 mph. I can see how those rocks move around like that. You can picture the races they ran there- the horses not the rocks.
I think I stayed out there for about an hour just on the grand stand.
