I liked hootie and the blowfish, now for country i'm not a big fan. Why do you ask this question?

He is a good singer but his voice doesn't do well with my country vibe. I'm more of a Zac Brown guy

Yep.

I never liked Hootie. I think his country stuff while catchy was pretty weak. Now it just seems he is doing covers. Not impressed.

Good singer overall but his version of Wagon Wheel isn't even close to Old Crow. If you enjoy old crow check out FolkSoul Revival.

He beats the pants off of Jennifer Nettles with her WAY overdone twang. I'd equate her vocals to a Brit doing an "American" accent.

I never listened to Hootie much, but as others have said, Old Crow did "Wagon Wheel" much better. For me, the two or three country songs I've heard Darius sing are missing something... some spark, some energy... It's something about how he delivers the lines to his songs that, for me, comes up short of making his music interesting. I can't quite put my finger on it, because his songs aren't terrible. The instrumentals seem solid, and the lyrics are good, he hits the notes, but something about the way he sings them just doesn't make me want to listen to them for some reason.

On the other hand, my wife thinks he's a good singer and enjoys his songs.

Still listen to Hootie. He's a decent country singer, better than I would have thought when he started. I don't mind his WW cover. Obviously not as awesome as the OCMS original but still not bad.
