Wow Jamzjeep - thatīs a pretty big blanket statement to make.

Have you ever spent time in Mexico? It really is a beautiful, amazing place full of extremely helpful, friendly people.

Every country in the world has itīs good and bad aspects, and paying off the odd cop is not that bad.

You might find it very interesting to learn that every single canadian and american I have met down here (and there are A LOT) say without a doubt a person has more freedom here than in either of those two countries. Not even close. Most of them talk about how they hope they never have to go back and deal with the bull up there.

Food for thought.

Good point. I've been to many places, Mexico twice in my twentys. I agree it was a blank statement. However my buddie and I were jumped by some locals wanting our money and whatever else. 5 on 2 and we walked away bruised but victorious, my buddie got a stick to the head and needed stiches.
That been said we did have a blast up to that point. It can be and is a very dangerous place ( Not in all locations of course) if you don't know what your doing. Just watch the media reports.

If a tourist were to walk around in Detroit or Chicago right now how do you think they would fare?
How many of those violent crimes do you think you hear about from the media? It's obviously in the best interests of the media to report every possible incident in Mexico and ignore as many as possible in the US.

I suppose so. But what tourist would want to go to the smog citys? And if you want to got to Mexico. Go. I'll stick with my experienced opinion, you stick with yours. I'm done beating a dead horse that's off topic. Nice gator.

That's a dangerous statement. I'll take my chances in America. You are not as free in Mexico as you are in America. God forbid you get charged with anything because you are presumed guilty until proven innocent over there. Not to mention all of the drug cartels kidnapping and murdering people. I live in Chicago and drive through the east side on my drive to work everyday and I would much rather take my chances here.

Have you spent any time in Mexico? How are you getting your information?

OK, now the locals really are getting too friendly.

Not sure how dated this is, maybe things have changed.

Criminal Law in Mexico | Considered Guilty Until Proven Innocent - Focus on Mexico

No, but I would definitely want to go to mexico(tourist destinations of course) I just wouldn't have the balls to take a road trip is all. Seems to risky to me with all of the killings and not being familiar with certain areas.

Hey thanks man. I'm in Puerto Escondido right now, enjoying the surf and sun.

I'm going into Belize on around the 5th of Jan and into Guatemala about the 15th... in Guatemala City on the 22nd.
I hear the country is beautiful and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm guessing there are Jeeps there natively?
