Hey man,
Good to hear from you. Due. Barrow is seriously north. Seriously

I plan to drive the Dalton Highway from Fairbanks to Prudhoe Bay.. I've heard good things and it gets me about as far north as I can possibly drive. I imaging you have to fly into Barrow?

Other than that, I don't have any plans for AK - I met a guy last nigh who invited me to his little 3 man gold mine near Central, AK.. and I'm sure I'll hunt down some hot springs.
Anything else you can recommend?

thanks,
-Dan

Yes Barrow can only be accessed by air, but during the winter you can drive the ice roads to prudoe bay. The Dalton Hiway refered to as The Haul road by locals is a beautiful drive. Make sure you have atleast one good spare tire.not many places to get tires repaired. There is heavy tractor trailer traffic on this gravel road. once you get through Atikan pass you will be up on the tundra flats, and on your way into Prudoe (DeadHorse). You should see lots of wildlife, Caribou,Moose,Muskox,Wolf,Ptarmigan. Have a good trip ,Enjoy

The drive up the Dalton Highway was amazing!
Would you believe me if I said camping by the Arctic Ocean is kind of cold?

I love reading these things. I read a bunch of them over at a adventure motorcycle site (not advrider). One guy went from Indiana to Alaska.
