Daniel Stern Lighting
I've been doing some research on headlight upgrades and I am pretty set on the cibie e-codes... Has anyone officially done business with www.danielsternlighting.com? I have looked all over and their site seems pretty legit. If not, does anyone know of a reputable dealer for cibie headlight housings?

I came really close to outfitting both of our XJs with his stuff. He was extremely helpful. I emailed him late Sunday afternoon, it took him 10 minutes to reply to my email. If it weren't so expensive, I'd buy stuff from him at the drop of a hat.

You're not apt to find anyone more knowledgable about lighting or more reputable to deal with than Daniel Stern. I haven't bought from him (he's answered questions for me, though), but my son has bought with no problems.
I have Cibie E-Codes and think they are excellent. Hellas are cheaper, but I prefer the beam pattern of Cibies. Try http://www.rallylights.com/. They are also great to work with and may have better prices than Stern. (I bought my Cibies from them, on sale a few years back) Oh shoot, I just checked their site and didn't find Cibie, maybe they stopped selling them. I'll let you know if I find another good source.

Well, Stern is listing 7" E-Codes at $62 each...
http://www.talbotco.com/e-code_lamps.htm has them at $49. They have been around a long time and are a reputable dealer.

I've purchased from Stern before and he's great to deal with. If you present him with other prices you've found, he'll find a way to work with you to make the total package price to your door competitive with other vendors. At the time i purchased, he was one of the few places selling correct left hand drive cibie e-codes. A lot of other places sell the RHD lenses which throw off an annoying "upswing" in the beam pattern to the left and into oncoming traffic.

Thanks for all the info folks... Now that I know Stern is good to do business with, I'll be happy to buy his products!!
edit: i dont think 49 or even 62 is all that bad for a good headlight upgrade especially when you spend 100 on roundeyes more for other |

When I lived in Colorado, a local import parts store sold Cibies but they had the RHD lenses. I ran 'em on my truck - worked well, but i had to adjust them down quite a bit to keep from getting flashed all the time. When people flashed thier high beams at me though, they quickly regretted it after I flashed mine at them. Ah, the beauty of powerful headlamps....
