QuestionCruise Quick Getaway

.

Wife and I seem to agree that a short cruise would be a nice way to unwind; something where we can eat/sleep/relax when we want to. A short 3 to 5 day one is something we think we can afford.

In researching the various ships/places/companies, I just get more and more confused the more I read.

Any recommendations out there? Especially recommendations to avoid certain ones based on your experience.

Thanks!!

royal carib is awesome.....carnival blows

If you want a quick getaway, look at flying down to a place you are interested in....cozumel, cancun, playa, etc. more relaxing than a cruise IMO...

if you can do it (it's not always possible), book one last minute. carnival has awesome rates the closer it gets to the cruise. you can get a 3 or 4 day cruise for around $250 a person a month or two before it departs. of course the off season before april is the cheapest.
right now you can get a 5 day out of galveston for under $299 in february.

You're in Kansas City.

I doubt Royal Caribbean or Carnival are offering tours of Lake Jacomo...

It's going to be a 3 to 5 day trip just to find an ocean.

Maybe I can get the Mississippi Queen to steam up here......

Anyway, thanks for the advise, folks. I didn't want to dance over to any travel agency as I can imagine one would get "offered" that which is offering a sweet commission..... That's why I posted - to get some "real" input.

Last minute bookings - yep, that's what I'm gonna do. In searching, I found a lot of 2/3 off deals on cabins all the way up to stateroom suites (ahh, the life of Riley).

Of course, along the lines of LandRover's comment, I could just rent a canoe but the wife is dangerous when she gets mad......

Look at a Western Carribean departing from New Orleans. There's some really good deals out there right now. AAA and Costco travel can help you find the best deal.
