As a Northern hillbilly, I have flown it on my Jeep, from the roll bar, with the stars and stripes flying right next to it. The same people who say the stars and bars is a hate symbol say that we need to pay reparations to the black community because of American slavery. Look, it wasn't my idea. Nonetheless, people do exist who fly the Confederate flag as a hate symbol, and those people are despicable. __________________ Christian Jeeper's Club #86 94 YJ Sahara 4.0-6 spd-2" Rough Country-31" Swamper TSLs-Angle Iron Rocksliders-SOLD!!!! 1947 CJ-2A: Work in progress. |

![]() Honestly it's a thing. People put what they want into it, and get what they want out of it. In the end it's just a piece of cloth and some dye. However i fully admit to making immediate stereotypes when i see one one somebody's rig/house/skin/whatever. I try to get over it, but first impressions are hard to shake. Oddly i saw way more of the thing in upstate new york/northern pa than i ever did living in louisianna or tennessee. __________________ Stock Jeep Club #26 -------------------- *

I think it’s a real bummer that it is so associated with racism and dumb rednecks. Yes the states that flew the flag had slaves and many a race based hate group formed in the south and it’s hard to find time for education when you’re busy farming to feed and clothe a nation but to me it stands more for the rights of individual states that the Confederacy fought for. __________________ Chew on your own stick. BRAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIINS!!! Join Date: Jan 2004 Location: Birmingham, AL Posts: 129 | I think it's a beautiful flag. Unfortunately it's a racist symbol and has a lot of bad history behind it. Some people fly it because they love their southern heritage. Most people fly it because they hate black people. I don't really know what you mean by "neither side really cared much for black freedom." |

Yea...its definitely a racist symbol...especially from the perspective of black people (which Im starting to think dont exist on Jeepforum.com). I personally dont have a problem with it...but then again, Im white Another thing, I dont know how people claim that the civil war had nothing to do with slavery, they claim that people who believe that it did have something to do with slavery just dont know their history. The fact is that slavery was one of the primary catalysts leading up to the civil war for about 50 years ![]() __________________ Jesse 2000 GC 4.0L

I is the laws | I think that if you wrap it around a plane on a treadmill the plane will take off, but only if you put 32s on it with a BB and, of course, use a Warn winch to pull it onto the treadmill. If the plane does not take off, I think it's not physics, but rather George W. Bush that caused the failure. __________________ loosing™ Kieth™ anywone™ nothing to loose™ sheap™ terrists™ lack of carrying™ 50+ tards away™ noxt™ frie™ deliciouse™ are'nt™ i's™ bin too™ |

Like the KKK flying the flag, racist. South Carolina flying the flag over the capital and Georgia having it as part of their state flag, not racist. __________________ Ben 1993 Jeep Grand Wagoneer ZJ V8: Rear Aussie, 3.5" Lift, 31" M/Ts GA Trail Riders |

I is the laws | on a serious note, I think the flag represents a failed effort to destroy the United States of America. Personally, that's not a heritage I'd care to be celebrating, but maybe that's just me. __________________ loosing™ Kieth™ anywone™ nothing to loose™ sheap™ terrists™ lack of carrying™ 50+ tards away™ noxt™ frie™ deliciouse™ are'nt™ i's™ bin too™ |

Both black and white. As long as you're not a moron with it or the stars and stripes I'm OK with it...I'd rather see that flag flown as opposed to the nazi flag.... __________________ One step beyond................ |

But Grape Ape is right though, because of all the racist groups using it, it has lost a lot of it's meaning. __________________ Ben 1993 Jeep Grand Wagoneer ZJ V8: Rear Aussie, 3.5" Lift, 31" M/Ts GA Trail Riders
