I learned the hard way that an SB 16 PCI didn't get along with Windows 95. The computer still works and is setting in the dining room right now, it has no sound now though due to the above mentioned thing. Its been struck by lightning twice. I'll try to get some pics of the old thing this weekend. It also seems to run much slower whenever I try to install the SB 16 PCI... And yes, Creative's tech support sucks royal ***.

Keep an eye on it for now. If you have a multimeter test the power supply rails (All of them).

Also - whoever posted the beep codes earlier - those varry by motherboard manufacturer.. so nice try, but always tell people to consult their manual for their specific trouble code sequences.
edit: it has been about a year since i read the reviews, i just checked and there are a lot of people saying their ps only lasted 1 year ..great

It was just a double function card, it had the sound card and a scsi controller built onto the same board, which is probably why it had so many problems, iirc this would be mid 90s, mostly when Win 95 first came out.

I actually have a sound blaster audigy in my current desktop, evidently it works so well I never bothered to install the drivers, so I'm just using on board sound.

Speaking of drivers, I'm actually getting rather fed up with all the extra crap mfrs seem to bundle with their drivers, it's no longer just a mouse driver it's a "human interface control system", look, just let me map the ****ing buttons to common operations and get the hell out of the way.

Anything made by that compant is just about total crap. Next time go with an Antec TruePower supply. It will last you forever without issue.
