Computer problem

Hi my HP pavilion vx74 will not let me go to sites that require signing in securely (I guess) like my ebay summary, hotmail, my AirForce mail account, etc. whacould be the problem? I have tried adjusted my browser setting to allow everything but that didnt help either.

Run Windows Updates.

Just a guess, but good place to start.

Try a diffrent browser? Reset the settings? scan for viruses, ad-ware, spy-bots, hiijackers, all them might affect that.

Delete windows and switch to linux. Just short of doing this, you might try running winblows update. Big Brother will audit your machine, determine what you need, then install it for you. Those bandaids can work wonders on an ailing machine!

Which version of Explorer are you running? I've seen older versions do this--have you tried another browser (FireFox)?. Some viruses/spyware can do weird stuff like this--is your machine clean? Just some ideas, short of a Windows re-load.

Do you have a firewall in your way? Secure sites (https:\\...) use port 443, instead of the port 80 used for http:\\....

Do you have a modern browser that supports 128 bit encryption? An older version might only be set to use 40 bit encryption, which lots of sites no longer support.
