Cold Weather Sayings

Ok, it's a slow day for me at work in case you can't tell by my many posts today.

Since I live in Michigan, I hear some funny cold weather sayings all the time. I thought we could start a thread and list some you've heard.

Old but still solid:
1. Colder than a well diggers *** in Utah
2. Colder than a witches tit in a brass bra

I almost fell out of my chair when I heard this one:

3. Colder than the last mans *** on a toboggan

If this is a dumb thread, kill it and flame; no harm done.

Jon

A timeless classic in the NE is short and sweet
"It's colder than $h*t out!"

Those are both funny, I have not heard the monkey one before.

We say colder than ***** here too and I don't know why. It cracks me up.

We always use the "Its cold as hell out there." Kind of an oxymoron but oh well. BTW, cold weather sucks in AL.

There's some sort of heatwave right now as it is currently about 70 degrees and threatening to rain. Normally the high is anywhere from 40-50 degrees this time of year. The weather is screwed up here right now.

My great-uncle had variations on both of these...the one I remember most was "colder than a well digger's *** in the klondike". Course he also had other sayings like "hot as a firecracker" and "slicker than ***** through a tin horn" or "quicker than ***** through a goose". I miss him, one of the best people I've ever known...died on Superbowl Sunday almost 3 years ago now.

Shiner,

Sorry to hear that.

My grandfather passed in 89 and he used to crack me up with some of the stuff he came up with.

When I lived in Texas I heard a few of these too:

1. Uglier than home made soap
2. He/She fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down
3. Dumber than a stump
4. Dumber than a box of rocks

I'm sure the list can go on and on.

Yes I've heard the fell out of the ugly tree one as well. Other than that there's the classic : "Beat with an ugly stick." I prefer "Move or I'll beat you with my ugly stick."

I bet you guys get some heavy duty know and especially wind there. What' the temp with the wind chill factored in?

We're supposed to get 8 inches by noon tomorrow. I live right off of Lake St. Clair (one of the Great Lakes) and we get lake affect snow and wind.
