CJ wont start after distributor/rotor/plug replacement

Hello! First off I am new to the Forum so please be gentle! ha

So, today I replaced the rotor, distributor cap and all the spark plugs....BUT...in the process of installing the plug closest to the front of the engine block (belts and grill side) my socket wrench hit the back of the alternator and arced/sparked. It was a loud POP! (made me jump back slicing the inside of my arm down to the tendons on somethin). I finished putting the plug in, checked that all my wires were firmly on the cap and plug ends then went to start my rig only to get the wreeer wreeer wreeeer wreeer wreeeer pause...wreer wrreeer wreeer. I went back and replaced the new rotor with the old - same outcome - replaced the new cap with the old - same outcome etc. I've tried everything I can think of. When I turn the ignition key over the radio still comes on and all the gauges are working (oil pressure, battery voltage etc.) Is there any chance I blew a fuse somewhere or fried the alternator?? I feel like I'm either not getting a spark.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
OH - this is the 258 inline 6 4.2 liter engine
