Will a CJ tailgate fit on a TJ?

I'm jus gonna say no. Altho this is totally the wrong area. This thread should be under TJ. I don't actually know the exact answer(TJ guys will know) but I do know that since a TJ tailgate is like a pickup tailgate, aka up down instead of swing out, it won't work with a hardtop (at least easily).

yes it will get one from cj7 with hinges, do a search

fixed it for you, but it will work with hard top even with the swap

sorry, is there a way I can move this thread? Also I have a softtop. I was thinking I would use the TJ hinges and try to fab a latch.

mods will move it but no need as its been answered, you only need to fab a latch, get the tailgate (with or without jeep lettering on it) and CJ hinges and it fits right in, all you have to do is mount the hinges and make a latch and fill in the old holes
