Are Christmas lights legal on Jeep?

So last year, I hooked up 500 christmas lights around the roof rack, tinsel, wreath on front, etc. Running off the power inverter. But I am wondering....is this legal?

I would drive all over, highways, biways, and boulevards with everything on. I encountered a few policemen who would pull up next to me, and laugh their arses off. So everything seemed okay. Now of course, there were a bunch of idiots who yelled at me 'that's dangerous, you are a distraction on the road, etc' But such is life.

Anyways, I am wondering if anyone knows if this is 'legal'. I sincerely doubt there is a Vehicle Code to write on a ticket for "Excessive Holiday Spirit"

So....

This year.....Mr Ricky has big plans.... very big plans....

1000 lights, covering the jeep, and I am going to get some wood and paint a giant South Park Santa Claus and mount it on the roof,

Here is my wonderful artwork trying to give you an idea!

You forgot the deer with red lights changed out in the middle to give the Gun Shot appearance.

I like the idea, but you know darn well, officer friendly will think different. In moderation, a cop might look the other way 1K worth of lights= not gonna get away with it. But I am not saying don't do it.......

Haha, true true, nothing is legal in california. I got a ticket for missing a screw in my turn signal which let white light escape from the seam (must be amber)

Yeah, I might not be able to put them across the doors.

Here my XJ last christmas in the beginning stages.....but then, well, long story short, the jeep caught on fire inside so I didn't get to finish the christmas setup...

Sorry for the terrible quality, it was the only camera I had at the time.

I did a similar thing last Christmas.

Of course, I did it across the Iron Curtain in Free Arizona. May I suggest we worry too much about legalities? What's the worst thing that could happen? You get a ticket and make the news as the oppressed Jeeper with Christmas spirit who got a ticket from Officer Scrooge.

Yes, you're a distraction and the zillions of houses you pass with 10,000,000 lights are not.

Have fun with your rig.

People are far to distracted by their cell phones to even notice much less be distracted by some little christmas lights.
