Bantam, Willy's, and Ford were in the race to be the sole producer of Jeeps but Willy's won, It was thought that Willy's could not provide enough Jeeps in what was going on in the world at that time so somebody made sure that Ford was involved someway. Ford agreed to produce the Willy's design under license. Ford gave it the name General Purpose Willy's. Indicating that it was a Ford GP built to Willy's standard design. Ford therefore had no chance at producing the Jeep in mass volumes because it was Willy's design. I added two new Jeeps to my list, but they weren't really new to me I just forgot about them. There are others with variations like the Golden Eagle and Golden Hawks packages. There is also the Tuxedo Park Mark IV package or the Surrey package. And the Renegade. I'm looking for models and variations. The_Icon_Rulez |

The Tuxedo Park edition of the CJ5 and CJ6 are actually called the CJ5A and CJ6A, which is on their seriel numbers. CJV35 Simalar to a M38, but built for the navy instead of the army. You could actually drive it under water! There was about a thousand built in 1950, and are only about 25 known to be existing still. Check out my friend Dereks site at http://www.film.queensu.ca/CJ3B/Index.html While most of the site emphasises on CJ3B's, there is lots of great info from all over the world. __________________ Wes Kibble-Toronto, ON www.offroadaction.ca - www.offroadracecanada.com - www.baja-north.com |
