Camp on the beach? Or south of NJ

Hey on the east coast more like NJ Md Va shore, is there anywhere you can camp? Or where is a good spot to take the girlfriend camping? I've done the AT in most northern states but nothing south of NJ. So where would be a good place...?

Assateuge Island in VA is about the only one in VA. Not sure about MD or DE.

Go now or go in Oct though, because the skeeters are brutal there in summer.

It's a nice trip, look it up on google.

There is a place in Delaware just south of Dewy Beach. Indian river inlet, although I'm not sure if its open this year or not they are doing bridge construction nearby. Worth a look, theres some good fishing there.

Bridge construction is still going on. That is a great place. It's the Indian River Inlet RV and Camping Park. Good fishings, and front row seats to our current bridge falling down from its foundation being washed out to sea.

Oh yes, they dont even have a contract or funding to build the actual span, both shorings are finished, but the actual bridge is still up in the air. It could be drawn out till 2012.

My local Jeep club just got back today from camping on the beach. Outer Banks, NC. I highly recommend going if you don't find anywhere else closer to you

Uh yeah. Unless you find RV folk scary, it's safe.

cape hanalopen state park, delaware......
not camping right on beach, the camping area is great and clean,
get a beach buggy permit, and then you can drive on the beach as long as you are "fishing"

Yea the reason i ask about the safety is because some spots on the AT you get all your stuff stolen and that would just stink.
