Did you call them? You're not the first person to walk down this road....

Tried to call our Credit union, but loan officer has been nusy all day and hasn't called back yet....

Ok so I think I may have figured it out. I was talking to my boss at work and this is what came up.

Once my credit union has the title and fills out the first lien section....My wife and I go to sign our part...we then take the title and meet the sellers at a bank closer to them and have there sigs notarized and then we take the title to the DMV and pay all applicable taxes, tags, fees, etc and then the DMV will send off the title to be transferred to our names and then they will send the title off to our credit union where it will remain untill we pay loan off?

Sound about right?

Keep us posted on what resolves this. I doubt you'll actually get the title or will even see it. Seriously your bank should be setting all this up to make it simple -they are making money on this, it's their job but you do the leg work. All that should be required is the seller of the car will need to sign a few things and that a sister bank needs to physically see the car that's all. You'll need insurance before hand and to you have insurance send a binder to your bank proving full coverage insurance

If the seller is only getting payoff it's easier but if they are going to have more than that they will need to issue 2 checks. One for payoff and the other for the seller

Deal ended up not going through....it was honestly just too much hassle to deal with. The seller was being a bit odd in his requests and couldn't just sit back and wait for his money to come to him...so i cut the cord....

On to a dealership.....
