buffing new car paint? PAINT PROS?

this does nto need ot be in paint or body as it is not related to jeeps...

I have a question, as many of you know my jeep is down... and no answer as to how or when it will be fixed...

anyways... i was given a rental truck. 2005 Dodge ram with the 5.7 hemi.. well back to my point... its light silver and has lots of scratches.... i mean thousands... arizona pin striping at its best as i drove up and down washes while hunting. I need to buff it back to new today. What tools and products would you recomend to take the surface scratches out that you get while wheeling in bushes? Its just thousands of pinstriping form bushes. I am sure you know what i mean...

i need ot buff and wax it but want somehting that will make it right so i can return it... what do you reccomend?

You maroon. You're supposed to do damage that CAN'T be seen.

You know....like jumping it off a hill, or doing J-strips with it.

Can't help ya, hoss. What about paying to have it done? It's gonna cost ya about the same, after you buy a buffer and all the compound/wax.

maroon= moron

I think it was an old Three Stooges concept, but don't hold me to it.

When I first started at the body shop, I got to do all the ***** work including buffing several cars a day. My advise is to practice on some old pos as it is easy to burn through the paint and make the problem worse. I would take it to a professional because to do it right you will need the following:
A buffer
a wool wheel (to get the scratches out)
compound to use with wool wheel
a foam wheel (to take swirl marks that you put in the paint with the wool wheel)
finer compound to use with foam wheel
hand glaze (to get rid of the very fine swirls that can be seen on dark cars)

There are many do's and dont's with buffing.

I'm thinking that these days ALL vehicles have clearcoat. I had a big scratch on one of my cars a few years ago and used a "scratch remover" product on it. It looked great until the sun hit it and then you could see HUGE swirl marks in it
