Definitely will be practicing as much as I can. We're going sometime in February so I have some time to shoot.

I have never been on a hog hunt, my job has brought me to Texas many times and I always wanted to get in touch with an outfitter. I have heard stories though of charging hog's once they have been shot, so be safe! .44 or above should finish em off I would imagine.

This is going to be my first time but I'm going with my Uncle who has like 20 years of hunting experience.

I'm just so excited!

Any recommendations for a bow sight?

I'm looking at some that are pretty expensive and some that are pretty reasonable.

I went to a company 2 years ago called Hind Sight. It takes away your peep and is almost the same sight alignment you would use while shooting a long gun (open sight) I love it, everyone always asks what type of sight I use when they see it. I used a peep for 10 years and I wanted to try something different, so check out the link... I use the cross fire... http://www.hindsightco.com/

Howd ya make out late riser lol? I saw plenty of squirrels but no deer. It was def. a tough opener, warm weather and winds @ 25mph most of the day. Hopefully tomorrow settles down a bit and the deer start moving. GO GET EM!

I didn't see anything besides birds and squirrels. My buddy saw a doe and three fawns playing in a field across the river about 100 yards out. Winds were about 25 mph here too, I was sitting under a tree on a hill facing north this morning, then I moved to the top of a ridge during lunch time figuring that there would be people moving through the woods to go grab something to eat, saw 2 hunters, but that's it. Called it quits at about 5, it was starting to get pretty chilly and I didn't have my coat.

Well it was warm once again this 2nd day of bow season, 53 degrees when I got on stand at 0600 this morn. Saw a couple other hunters around 0730 which was very discouraging however, a spike horn decided to walk by at 1030 and I ended up harvesting him. Feels good to have one under my belt and the pressure off. GO GET EM!
