Bought a moped

Hey everybody. I haven't been on in a while because I haven't had a second to breathe since summer ended, but I've finally gotten caught up.

Anyway, like a lot of people here I'm sure, I'm sick of gas prices. So I bought a 2005 Tomos ST moped to get back and forth from work. I know, I know... I probably look pretty damn silly on it, but 100+ mpg is nice. Plus I have some time for my jeep to just sit there and get worked on. Something's nutty in my cooling system, I want to rhinoline the interior, and replace a few cheaper parts that are starting to crap out.

Anybody else ever ride a moped as their primary vehicle? I have a pretty short commute, about 4 miles each way, so its really nice. Feel free to make fun, I'm very difficult to offend.

Ever been to the University of Wisconsin campus? The moped to pedestrian ratio is about 1:4. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz all day long. Gets annoying. Then I start my XJ up and feel all better.

Is that a Blata pocket bike (aka the original Italian made.. awesome quality.. been around for 20 years pocket bike) or a $200 eBay Chinese rip off pocket bike with horrible quality?

no its not a Blata, or Pollini... its Chinese.. but it is of great quality.... the frame is super sturdy as for the forks/brakes ect.... it is one of the best chinese ones I have seen..... and I did the big-bore and carb/pipe, and some other goodies... and it out performs my buds $1100 Pollini.... total investment of $400
the way we ride I would be crying if I dropped a Blata....
I have two of these.... this is the beauty queen and the other is for doing wheelies and just stupid stuff..... But on the track the yellow bike is very competitive..... I weigh 150lbs and it can lift the front tire in mid acceleration.
we all have them at work.... a total of 9 bikes.... and I'd have to say that the other chinese ones are crap.... i suppose I found the Gem.
but I still cant beat my bud with his 110cc 5 speed pocket.... it's just crazy....
pulling wheelies in third comming out of the apex, and with hydro brakes and dual discs..... endo's for days.... but it was a grip of $$$$

That is a pretty nice PB you have, where did you get it? Cause I've been wanting one but really don't wanna spend damn near $3k on a Blata for a little rush of fun every now and then.

How fast does an average pocket bike go? Do you need a certain permit for them?

I used to see tons of kids riding those, but they have disappeared.

They all died because they thought they were god on them and could do anything.
