the black google

i just discovered the black version of google. it is supposed to be saving electricity because less energy is used by displaying a black screen rather than a white screen.

anybody else heard of this? anybody use it?

click here to learn about the black google

The black google saves energy, is that insinuating that black people are lazy and conserve energy? That is so racist.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. They just want the adsense $$ for their custom search.

Your backlight is still on using a black page, same amount of power. God people are stupid.

here's the thing: black pixels != turned off pixels.

That, plus the backlight, and you have yourself an enegery-eating machine.

From what I remember reading, this only works on CRT monitors. So its completely useless on flat screen monitors that use LCD and all laptops.

I think the deal was that if you are running an lcd screen it has to be over 24 inches for you to see any energy savings.

I cant find the mag that this article was in, but I read about it a few months ago.
