I got my little brother- think Abercrombie, diamond earings, jock, crappy music- a pink shirt that says "I'm to pretty to work" with a little tiara hanging off the "k" at the end.

When I was in high school, I gave my parents a gift certificate good for an hour-long hot air balloon ride. My mom still tells me, more than 20 years later, that nothing has ever topped that gift.

Took my dad 2 years ago to his first Ohio State football game. I'm 32 and have been to bout 40 games or so and none will ever compare to that one. Gives me the girly goose bumps thinking about it.

Papa and I planned to take the Cincinnati Vicinity Granddaughters on our annual excursion today. The plan was to take the Lebanon Railroad to the North Pole for a visit with Santa and then we would go to Mason for the light display which we understand is wonderful. After that, we would go to dinner. Tickets bought, plans formalized. Unfortunately, Papa came home on Friday (after lunch with his Dad, Uncle Paul and Aunt Kathe) with a fever and feeling terrible. He became progressively worse--chills, sweating, etc.
By Sunday, Papa and I were not going anywhere. We called the families. Joanna is sick. Christine is sick. Toby went to the railroad station and picked up the pre-paid, non-refundable tickets. There were many disappointed people, who had not prepaid, standing around waiting to see if any more tickets were available. There were none. Toby noticed a young mother with two little girls and a babe in arms. The little girls were close to tears. He watched as the mother went to the ticket counter to see if she could at least take the girls inside the train to see what it was like. No. Toby gave her our tickets. She offered to pay--he refused. The little girls jumped up and down, the Mama cried.
Almost as good as going with the granddaughters.

My Family. I absolutely love em.

windows

I gave my sister in law new siding and windows. Her house is a lot warmer, worth more money, and looks better. The best part though, is that she feels better about herself because she couldn't believe somone would give her a gift like that.

A group of about 5 of us from my church scouted out a down and out single mom with two kids this year and came up with about 1000 bucks between us. We did everything from cutting them a tree to getting them pretty much everything they wanted. Can't wait to show up at their door on Friday with an entire Christmas in a pick-up. That will be a pretty cool thing. It's sad how easy it is to really bless someone and how rarely I actually do it.

I gave my wife a 1/2 carat VVS1 diamond engagement ring for her b-day/X-mas about 7 years ago. Today is her b-day.

Got it at the company white elephant a week ago. I even resharpen utility knife blades with it. If you want dangerous sharp right now, get one of these. It took a little while to master this thing.

Given? misread the thread title. Get one of these anyway.

Is that why you're 'home sick'?

Hmmmmmm........Herpes....The gift that keeps on giving.

I'm just kidding....it was only the crabs.

I'm just kidding....it was a pair of platinum & diamond ear rings that my GF hasn't taken out of her ears in 2 years. However, She kinda smells like cheese around her ears now.

No, I got the chills really bad at work yesterday. I was sitting 2 feet from a propane heater and burning my ***. When it wasn't really heating me up, I decided that it was time to come home and take my temperature. It was 103. I have it down below 100 now, but I still feel pretty crappy. My joints ache like crazy, I can't breathe and I'm still pretty dizzy, even without the double shot of NyQuil. It sucks, I always get this same nasty cold this time of year. I'm sick for at least 2 of these 3 events: wife's b-day, X-mas, New Years Eve.

There were 2 that really made me feel good.

Bought my Parents a snow blower last Christmas. I gave them a card saying what their gift was that day, but I didn't have a way to get it, so a few days later we went to Home Depot to get it. They were complaining about how much it cost (like parents do) But I just ignored them...

They have a 3 car driveway and in North East MA it is not uncommon to get a foot of wet heavy snow... I know it isn't as bad as Upstate NY, but my step dad has a bad elbow and well, my mom is getting old... I don't want them shoveling that.

When we got it home I realized how happy they were realizing they never had to shovel the driveway again.

Second was my Senior year of HS, I got a $200 Christmas bonus from work the week before Christmas. My shopping was already done so it was just bank money for me. At my HS we had a toys for tots drive, I thought about it for a minute and decided to give the $200 to my teacher to donate. He was speechless that a 17 year old kid would give up the money.

I have never felt like I helped someone out that much before, and to this day, TfT is the only thing I donate money to. I was always fortunate as a child, I wasn't from a well off family, I'd say lower middle class, but come Christmas time there were always presents under the tree. I couldn't imagine waking up Christmas morning and being told that there are know gifts because the electric bill was due.

Me and my little brother bought my mom a new dining table and chair set from Oak Express for 2200 bux! the one thing she has always wanted is to have the whole family together at the table but she only had a table that sat 6. so now it seats 20. took up the whole dang room but she loves it. Luckily its one of those tables that the leafs fold up into it so it stores them too.
