Auto Cad help Converting .JPG to .DWG

can you convert a simple .JPG to a .DWG? Our cad system at work is not autoCAD(although I do have autoCAD) but an older CAD program. I need to convert .jpg objects in a AUTOCAD .DWG file so I can convert it into my CAD program which will only reconize text and lines not objects.

Not that I know of, but I only use Solidworks' DWG editor. You could probably import it as a layer, then sketch on top of it?

Its probably not much help because its not what you are looking to do, but typically I just insert the raster image, scale a reference point to get it close to an accurate size, then trace over the image. Its a tedious process, but it does work.

SideFX Houdini has a "trace" SOP that will vectorize a raster image, but at 10 grand, it's a bit much for the one function

(there is however a free version that I believe still allows you to save dwg and dxf objects).
