No, not "gang" signs as we are not a gang but yes there are signs that can be used to identify each other.

That's right, we're the real original gangstas. Hahaha. JK. There are signs but it's not something you'd see in public. And it's certainly not that diamond thing Jay-Z does that everyone on youtube says is a masonic sign.

Why isn't he a mason? Are you racists?

In a nutshell it seems that the Masons are one of those organizations that indoctrinate its members toward a bigger picture or goal. Members work their way up in rank all while being fed little pieces of the big puzzle each step of the way. Most members never get any where near the top. The big picture or goal is usually something not generally accepted in society, hence all the secrets.

From what I can gather Freemasons are like Scientologists. Not in belief, but in the way they work. Freemasons have just been around a lot longer and are better at keeping secrets. Maybe because they don't have Tom Cruise jumping around like a lunatic on Oprah drawing attention.

I may be way off base. I'm just saying what I came up with.

I don't know if he's a mason or not. I haven't seen any evidence that he is. If he's not, you'd have to ask him why not.

No, we're certainly not racists.

Just as I said, weeded through the boring and believed the sensational.

If you want to really do research, here's a good reputable website to start with.

Looks like you hit some of the anti-masonic "truth" sites. Yes we indoctrinate our members a littel bit at a time; it is so they have time to learn and understand the things needed for the next degree. For Masonry 3rd degree is the "top" and almost all Masons do get to 3rd degree. The "higher" degrees are in Scottish Rite or York Rite and they are not held to be higher than a 3rd degree. The big goal of Masonry is a world in which all men are treated as equals/act as brothers in a society that allows individuals to worship a god of their choosing. As for the "more secret" thing we are terrible at keeping secrets. Everyone knows who we are, they recognise our symbols and like I said before you can find all of our secret stuff openly on the web.

Does it have to be monotheism? Can one say, worship Roman/Greek/Norse gods and still be kosher with the FMs?

The only religious requirement is that candidates believe in a Supreme Being. If you can in good faith profess such a belief, you are eligible to be a Mason. No atheists will ever knowingly be made a Mason. There are Christian (Catholic, Protestant, Mormon), Jewish, Buddhist, and Muslim Masons. It would be tedious and pointless to go into a religion-by-religion (and then denomination-by-denomination) discussion. The key points to remember are the requirement of belief in a Supreme Being and the fact that Masonry is a fraternity, not a religion. - taken from Grand Lodge of Maine

Theoretically as long as the belief is that one of the Greek/Roman/Norse gods is the creater of all the others (true in Norse for sure) you could claim to believe in a Supreme being.

Interstingly enough religion is forbidden to be discussed in Lodge.
