AR Drone

I AM BUYING ONE WHEN IT IS RELEASED THIS YEAR!!!!

It is an RC Drone plane controlled by the iPhone across the cellular network, thereby limiting it's range only by the battery life. There is a video camera in the front allowing to see where it is going on the iPhone screen. Parrot, the manufacturer is on Facebook. Here is the link!

$300 doesn't seem too bad for something like that though.

Don't have an iPhone.
Darn.

That's really neat... not just kinda... I'll give them $40 for one if they can make it operate through Android...

I dont need a quadracopter for $300 when I can get a helicopter for $40. Or a really good one for $80. I know the wouldnt have the same range, but I'm not doing recon on terrorists in the next county...

Since it has in theory unlimited range and only an onboard camera to see where its going, wouldn't it be easier to tape $300 to a balloon and let it go?

I was thinking it would be impossible to recover if you got it WAY far away, then the battery dies...

I work a few minutes from my house. I'd leave my sliding glass door open, and send it home incase I forgot something. Maybe install a little tray and train my dog to drop whatever it is in the tray and fly it back. That'd be pretty sweet.

WiFi, not cell network.

If it was cell network it seems like it would require a lot more then the copter and iPhone, and cost more, and a bunch of other factors, o and it wouldn't work with the iTouch
