Anyone at or ever been stationed in Nellis AFB ?

Right now I'm in Osan, my first base, been here for about 4 months now, and I'm heading to Nellis after this in February. I'm wondering if any of you other AF guys have been stationed there, or are there right now? I ask wondering how it is. I've spoken to some people in my career field that say it's a lot more work than here in Korea, but not that bad. Although, I've talked to some people that are TDY here now that have been there saying that if they had to go back, they'd go AWOL, cuz of the workload. 12 hr days, 7 days a week, exercises, etc. (I'm an ammo troop). I picked Nellis as a follow on cuz hey, it's Vegas, plus the off roading around there. Just wondering if I'll actually get time to enjoy it. Any opinions? One guy even said to cancel the assignment and go on the EQUALS listing

I was at Nellis off and on in the 80's while I was in the Marines. We used to go there and to Reno every year for flight exercises. It was a blast. Nice wheather and since I grew up in Phx it was like going home. Plus I met a really cute dealer out there who used to make me "breakfast" a lot.
My son's in Japan right now and will be going to Altus OK in August.

My daughter was stationed at Kirtland in ABQ and had to make several trips to Nellis. She said there was weird crap going on there that she still won't discuss to this day.

One of my buddies was stationed out there for 5-6 years and hated it. He's from northern Wisconsin and I think it was to much of a change for him. I went TDY there to many times and had fun, but I knew I was leaving.

rodneyw71, when were you at KI? I was there '85 to '92. Yooper from the area anyway.

I was there in '92, I knew someone who was from the U.P., I think his last name was Oley or something like that. We used to go to car shows in Escanaba.

I knew a couple of guys who went to nellis, one of them ended up getting a DUI and got kicked out.
