yeah, a coworker. Funny story, though. She is a Philipino who's sister was also married into the country. Apparently the sister was so unhappy with the marriage, she divorced and went back. WTF? How bad of jerk do you have to be to drive a philipino back to her home country?

The former manager of my store got bilked out of about 13,000 dollars by his russian bride...

I need x amount of dollars for this.... he'd send it.
I need x amount to get my ticket... he'd send it.

My OL's dad picked up a Russian bride 20 years his junior. It was fun at first. He spent tons getting her here. As soon as she got here, he had to spend more getting her bratty teenager here that he really didn't think was part of the deal. He lost his first wife, nice house, relationship with two daughters, and is in debt tens of thousands now. He lives in tiny apartment with the Russian chick and her kid and is miserable.

Almost every mail order bride I have met was just after a ticket to America. I have met a couple who seem to have worked out, but I wouldn't gamble on those odds.

I met my wife in the mail and we were penpals before we met.(before internet) She worked with a friend's mom at an insurance company for the Summer while I was off in the military. We met 4 months after we starting writing, got engaged 6 months later, and were married 6 months after that. We lived 500 miles apart until the day we were married. We have been married for almost 17 years and have 3 boys. I don't even notice the beard anymore.

Just kidding about the beard. She is beautiful.

My friend from High School's mom was a mail order bride from the phillipines. She named him Elvis.
She and her husband that ordered her are still happily married after 25+ years

My landlord that I rent out space for my business from has a mail order bride. She never looks happy and looks like she wants to die. They have a child together and wants more. It takes a special kind of person to force someone into marriage, and my landlord is that kind of guy.

Just go to work at an electronics manufacturing company. Half the women that work in the production area are usually mail order brides. Why? Well, because of all the dufus, social-skill-lacking, engineer nerds upstairs who can't get a date with an american woman. They get a phillipino wife and find her a job where they work.

I know a ton of them. Most of them are very nice and a few are even loyal.
