1995 - 2001 Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer will come with disc brakes and had 4.10s as an option. They also had 31 spline shafts. Pre-'95 had 28 spline shafts and drum brakes.

Rangers & Mustangs had 8.8 axles, but had the 28 spline version.

Look for a Ford 8.8 from a '95-'01 Explorer, these have disc brakes on them & 31 spline axles.

Look on the driver's door of the donor Explorer for the axle code on the VIN sticker.
