Any Michigan people with info on trails?

OK, just got my TJ in November and my wife and are looking forward to getting out into the woods on some camping trips but.....I can't really find anything on any Michigan trails.

Anybody have any good information on trails in Michigan--anywhere in Northern Michigan suits us fine! Besides the Dunes at Silver Lake--been there, done that with rental Jeeps!

There's really not much here in Michigan.

There's the Mounds which is near Flint.

Drummond Island is supposed to be pretty cool, but I haven't made it there yet.

Silver Lake is always fun, even though I've been there too many times to count.

If you're up for a little travel, the Badlands is a really good time.
Its in Attica, IN.

There's West Branch, Drummon Island, and a bunch of state forests up there. My dad said that Michigan actually has a bunch of cross country trails as well where you are able to drive from coast to coast without being onroad.

If it's just you and your wife I'd stick with the state forests, I know there's a bunch up by Oscoda. The views are beautiful, but it's nothing too technical, just fun.

EDIT: Drummond Island is where they hold Jeep Jamboree. I'll be there with my dad this year if anyone else is going.

Check out "Motorcycling Across Michigan" by William Murphy (ISBN 0-9766104-3-4).

It was written by a DNR guy who has a lifetime of experience all over Michigan. Not so much off-road trails (written for bikes, of course!) but some very nice areas mapped out - and in a Jeep you can leave the pavement and explore further.

Drummund, etc., already covered in other replies.

I think my father and I will be going as well. I have not reserved the spot yet.....since the jeep my dad would be driving is my stepmom's, he has some convincing to do.

Drummond island is a blast.. did the jamboree there a couple years back.. its a hike for sure.. the coolest thing about drummond island is that its like jeep heaven.. they are everywhere.. all the locals drive them. ( and yeah I realize that alot of the jeeps were there for the jamboree ) but you see them everywhere.. I am also interested about more local trails or clubs..
