Any Lexus Owners? New JK versus GS...

I was planning to replace my Cherokee with a new Unlimited Rubicon, however I have the need for a luxury vehicle (I'm a realtor).

Anybody here own a Lexus? I'm looking at the 2004/5 GS430. The 2006 and newer GS is a different generation and cost a lot more. Anybody have feedback on them?

Anybody think I'm foolish to buy a Lexus instead of a new Rubicon? I'll still keep my Cherokee and if all goes well I'll be getting my new Jeep in the next 12-18 months anyway.

i don't know anything about lexus', but if you need a luxury vehicle so you can drive clients around i would definitely get one of the suv models rather than a car model. that is what our realtor drove and it was a lot nicer than riding in a car.

Look at Acura. We have an MDX and it is great.

Is this some kind of sick joke?

See my signature. You know where I stand.

A Lexus is a Toyota with lipstick.

I was at work the other day and this lady parked next to me in a Lexus SUV and she put a bumper on it, like it was a jeep or something. It looked so fugly!
Lexus are ugly! If I were you I would get the 4 door jeep wrangler and if your clients don't like it tough!

My inlaws had an '04 GS430. It was a pretty comfy ride. They had issues with the nav system screen thingy if I remember right...had it replaced on warranty at least once. I drove it from norcal to socal at least twice...super comfortable to travel in/drive all day. If I was going to be carting clients around all day, I would not mind driving that one bit. I'm 6'2". I rode in the back every now and then and do not remember it being too cramped.

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?

A Lexus is a fine car. Toyota is a massive company with an almost unrivaled quality. The Lexus' hold their values better than a BMW or a Mercedes and the maintenance is much cheaper than BMW & Mercedes. Their customer service is top notch, but so are Mercedes & BMW.

Some people will not put Lexus in the same class as BMW or Mercedes, but its probably because most have not driven all 3 of them. I have driven BMW 7 series, Mercedes S Class, and Lexes ES 430. The lexus rode bettter than the other two....BY FAR!

If you are a realtor, I would look at either a Lexus ("a toyota with lipstick") or an Acura("a Honda with lipstick"). They are similar in price and reliability. The Mercedes & BMW will lose their value VERY fast since you will probably be putting on a lot of miles and their maintenance is outrageously expensive.

I am a very proud Jeep owner, but Jeep lacks in their reliability. Daimler Chrysler leaves a lot to be desired. Their engines are GREAT, but everything connected to it is piss poor. They should take a few notes from Toyota/Lexus on how to build a car, buy components, etc. As for capability.....no one beats a Jeep!

And for those who coin the quotes of a "Toyota with lipstick" and the like.....then why does everyone buy ford rear ends, chevy engines, etc for these Jeeps? Think about it.

Oh, and the GS is a little sportier car. The better ride is the ES 430. They have a new ES 430H that is a 400 horsepower hybrid. Very cool car. Check into the Lexus IS also. I think the new IS 350 has 379 horsepower.

If you want a superior ride and comfort....go with the Lexus LX470. Thats a very nice SUV.

Thats a pretty clean looking car, but I dont know about showing up to take a client riding around looking at properties in a Hyundai. I like them and I think they are really increasing their quality of production and making a MUCH better name for themselves, but I dont think they are to the point where I would purchase one to give off an air of success and prominence in the real estate industry.

On the other hand, do you want to be reminding your clients about how much of their money you're going to be taking, just for filling out some paperwork for them?

It depends on the clients you are dealing with, the standard of living of your area, the economic conditions of your area, etc.

If you are selling $50,000 houses, then I doubt you are going to need a Lexus. You probably shouldnt drive a Lexus if you are selling houses that are that cheap. The people will probably think you are stuck up and it will hurt your business. But if you are trying to sell to someone in the $250K and up.....then they will probably think you arent a very good realtor if you are driving up in a $20K car.

Sad but true....people are vain. You cant change their vanity....you have to anticipate it. Whether we like it or not....most people will determine whether they like you or not in the first 15-30 seconds of the transaction and the car is part of it.
